Wonder if we'll start to see more discrimination against particular vaccine types.

AZ not signed off for use in the US.

JassyRadlett · 18/06/2021 17:54

Oh come on, that’s not what it is. At this stage they’re saying they’re only accepting proof of vaccination by one of the vaccines approved in the US. Not just AZ but all the others.

There are broader issues on this, I agree, but they’ll come down to what happens in the future with mutual recognition of other regulators’ decisions. It’s really early days yet.

So say if the US don't ever approve the Chinese or Russian vaccines does that mean people who've had those won't be able to attend public events in the US?

That's standard. The rules here in Ireland re who needs to quarantine and for how long when coming from various countries only gives consideration to vaccines approved by the EMA so those with a Chinese or Russian vaccine that hasn't yet be approved are treated as unvaccinated. Why on earth would you expect them to accept an unapproved vaccine?

HairyFloppins · 18/06/2021 18:35

I'm hoping it's early days and they will allow WHO approved vaccines otherwise DH will have to stay outside if we see a concert in the future.

My family member in North Cyprus was offered either AZ or Sinopharm. Those who had Sinopharm are going to be offered a Pfizer booster in 8 months time. But some are worried their vaccine won't be accepted to travel.

I'm watching this with interest as we are supposed to be going to Orlando next year and I'm concerned more and more places will do this. We'll change to somewhere else if it looks as though the US will be doing this in other places.

They have changed the policy now they tweeted earlier.

Canada were quite annoyed by it as well as they have used loads of AZ.
