School bubbles?

Just out of curiousity really, would an entire year group be a bubble or a class? I guess it likely depends on individual schools but someone my son has been in contact with, at school, has tested positive (he's in year 1) and his entire year have been sent home. Curious if this is usual?

Yes this would be normal.

In a secondary school, they are currently closing bubbles only after 5 positive cases. Before that only close contacts isolate.

It’s a mess and very disruptive!

DC's (secondary) school only isolates direct contacts. They are too big a school for sending the whole year home to be sensible.

It utterly depends on the individual school’s risk assessment - which should be available
on their website. And might have been updated.
