Child test - only nostrils?

Just took 7 year old for a test and only had to do rim of his nostrils. Thought nothing of it at the time but now hoping that's ok? Was at a testing centre. Has anyone else had to do only nostrils for a child?

Yes I was told on Saturday just to do my dc nostrils at the testing centre.

We were told to try for throat on 4 year old but if it wasn't possible just to do both nostrils instead. We managed OK with throat as DC Is used to swabs so that's what we did. We have had friends who have just done nostrils on their DC and have got positive result alongside the parents who did both so it must still work. It would be much easier to just do both nostrils on child.

Thank you both 😀

Yep, 2 different DC (different times, same testing centre though) and both nostrils for both of them. Negative tests for both.

Each time I test my kids I often think if they DID have Covid it would never show up as I'm never convinced we get it in far enough 😬
It's so hard when they keep pulling away!
