Wedding reception in garden?

So Boris has said we are allowed over 30 people now at weddings. After having our wedding cancelled three times we decided to have a bbq reception in our garden intending on just 30 people. We would love to be able to have 40 guests the place we will be having the venue (our garden) isn't huge but is able to to have enough space to seat 40 people with 6 at a table and be able to stick to the 2m rule. I'm just wondering if this is classed as a wedding revenue or because its our garden it will still have to be the limit of 30 outside. The last thing I want is to assume its OK and end up getting the police at our garden gates handing out fines 😬

There is a specific mention of wedding receptions in gardens near the top of this page. You need to do a risk assessment but you are allowed.

Sorry can I ask . So does this mean my friends wedding can go forward on July 17th but no mixing tables and no dancing ???

I take it you will actually be getting married elsewhere? I don't think legally, your garden would count as a 'wedding venue' because legally you cannot get married in your garden.

Yep, your garden is fine and does count as a venue. See attached from the actual guidance today. Smile

@Bedsheets4knickers Yes, basically. Weddings can have over 30 people as long as social distancing can be maintained.

Maybe in England, totally fine in Scotland!

Best of luck OP, sounds great!
