Could not agree more with Theresa May, never thought I'd say it.

Wow. What a skewed thread, it’s like the initial posters all timed the chat. Weird.

Living with it is dying with it. Look at the country’s who are suffering less economic hardship and have lost less lives and copy them. It’s not rocket science.

And to whoever said the U.K. had one of the strictest travel policy. Big lols.

It’s been shambolic, let the bodies pile high nasty agendas from the start. Herd immunity with no vaccine with the care home disaster makes it feel more like a mass cull.

No mitigations in schools, removing masks as cases started to rocket, suggest the strategy hasn’t change.

Boris’ dad has spoken about population control and he himself has expressed concern about the size of the population. He obviously sees it as natures way so long as he survives it.

Poor and vulnerable more at risk.

We need him gone but sadly his approach suits too many in positions of power.

Rory Stewart is the only conservative MP I’ve seen speaking sense on this but I’m sure there are others.

Very good post @wondersun

As an aside. I read an interview with an epidemiologist this morning. He explained that if Covid is here to stay for a while (due to open borders and human mistreatment of animals and the environment), then so will be the need for mitigating measures. Including masks.

The most sickening thing is the lack of honesty. There are kind methods. Many countries and some American states now offer euthanasia or assisted suicide. A peaceful painless death - that allows the person time to get their affairs in order, say their goodbyes. Covid on the other hand is a cruel way to kill someone.

Long Covid is the hidden danger (and a potential future scandal).

This is a possibly genetically modified disease escaped from a lab. We are only at the very beginning of starting to discover what long term damage it can cause. So far we know it can lead to heart, lung, or kidney damage, diabetes, and neurological issues.

I agree Rory Stewart seems decent. There's probably a few others. I'm not sure of his stance on Covid but Johnny Mercer has integrity, which is a rare quality in a politician.

I agree with everything you’ve put. The unknown effects and future mutations concern me too. Deepti Gurdasani is great follow on twitter. I will look up Johnny Mercer thank you.
jasjas1973 · 13/06/2021 15:52

You should have a look at Mercers business interests before saying he has integrity, he is no different from most MPs in that he is feathering his own nest first.
Not illegal but hardly a role model either.

Tealightsandd · 13/06/2021 15:56

Oh that's a shame if true about Mercer. I'll look it up The list of decent MPs with integrity gets even shorter then.

I second the recommendation of Professor Deepti Gurdasani. Definitely worth a follow.

Hear hear. (I also love the tweeter's question "who gave her the red pills" Grin) As she adriotly states, if the aim is zero covid, we will never travel abroad ever again.

I don't think those calling for extensions to restrictions really understand that these extensions will never, ever, ever end until we come to terms with the fact that we have another illness which will seasonally kill the vulnerable. The answer to the inevitable outbreaks is not to all climb on the funeral pyre of our former society and consent to the slow degradation of our entire culture and way of life. The answer is to vaccinate as much as possible each year and keep on trucking. This is what we have done for other serious illnesses - including those which kill and maim children - for hundreds of years.

Theresa May's realism and pragmatism need much more air time and Johnson's attempt for a 2021 do-over for his fucked up 2020 response deserves much less.
