How long for PCR results at the moment?

We’re at the 24hr mark and half half a pint of milk left and nothing for lunch. Do I get a Deliveroo shop ordered or hold out and hope the result comes in soon so I can nip out to the corner shop….
How long are people waiting at the mo for PCRs? Last time it was only 12hrs which was fab…

We've had to have two done in the past week (DS had a temp last week so tested, seemed OK for a few days then another high temp so went again). First time it was about 9 hours, second was just under 24hrs.

The quick turnaround on the first one raised my expectations so for the second one I was refreshing my email every five mins from about 5 hours in Grin.

I reckon give it another hour and then get on deliveroo. Fingers crossed its negative.

Had test on Thursday morning at 10am, results came through yesterday at 4.11pm. So 30 hours for us from a site in Lancashire.

Gingenius · 12/06/2021 10:38

@Madamswearsalot I think I’m the same the previous one was so quick I thought it’d be the same. I have plenty of wine so essentials are covered…

Had test Tuesday at 8am. Results back 8pm that evening (negative). Twas brilliant.

Tested at about 10.30 on Thursday - results about 10pm Friday, also in Lancashire.

Gingenius · 12/06/2021 12:07

Urgh: the game of chicken did not pay off: still no results - were having mini sausage rolls and broccoli for lunch 😬

We've had a few tests in the last week or two, all back within 12 hours.

MRex · 12/06/2021 13:20

We did a postal test as we'd ordered them for surge testing but then DS got a fever randomly the same day so we had to isolate. Ordered, arrived next day and in the post at 11am. Results for 3 between midnight and 3am the day after, so 37-40 hours after hitting the postbox.

Deliveroo sounds like a better idea than sausage rolls and broccoli. Do you have a neighbour who could nip to the shops for you? Our road has a WhatsApp group so people are always doing one or another thing for each other as needed. If not, the local covid volunteers should be able to do it for you, just look up the council website. They can at least get you emergency bits while you wait for a supermarket delivery.

Yes, we have lovely neighbours who’d be happy to pop out for us but I’m actually quite enjoying the challenge. If we’ve still not got a -ve by dinner it’ll be questionable carrot and Haloumi surprise (the surprise will be a side of baked beans).
Thankfully we have a Tesco delivery coming tonight so dinner will be the last meal that is a bit odd….

Home test -3 days last week
Walk in test centre - 12 hours.
I think it is just pot luck half the time haha.

mmmmmchocolate · 12/06/2021 14:12

27 hours, Thursday morning test, Friday afternoon results. Hopefully not too much longer!

Gingenius · 12/06/2021 15:19

Woo hoo. -ve. I’m off to the shop, questionable carrot surprise will have to wait for the next emergency meal situation.

Glad it was negative.

We've done a few recently (walk-in) and they were 20 and 27 hours respectively. Thankfully negative for us too.

Madamswearsalot · 12/06/2021 18:59

@Gingenius yay! Though baked beans and haloumi could have been a whole new thing. The world will never know now .
