I’m asking for a bit of advice. Both my children were sent home to isolate last Friday as they were a close contact at school. Big outbreak at school. We all as a family had negative tests at a test centre on the Saturday plus I have also tested the kids again doing home tests which again were negative. I have had to take a week of work as my two aren’t old enough to watch themselves 9,10. There 10 day isolation Period ends Monday. Back to school Tuesday. Could I ask my parents to look after the kids on Monday so I can return to work? I’ll test them again on Sunday just in case. Both parents have had both jags, last one a few months ago.

I'd just do it anyway, even if it's not allowed.

Thanks, I don’t want to put my parents at risk. The Monday would be my childrens 10th day of isolation. We had a prc test on the Saturday, then a lateral flow test yesterday. I’ll do another one on Sunday. Both tests negative. They have no symptoms.

Of course you can if they're happy to. You don't need anyone else's permission! Chances of developing symptoms 10+ days after exposure is something like 2% which is why they reduced the isolation period. Even less given the number of tests you're doing.

As a grandparent I'd be happy to do it. Have you asked them what they think?

DirectionsForUse · 10/06/2021 18:11

There's a reason the isolation period is what it is. It is possible children could still develop it . As to whether that means they present a risk to fully vaccinated GPs, I doubt it. TBH I think my parents would have done it through the whole period in these circumstances.

Thanks for all your replies. Turns out they are back at school on Monday not Tuesday as I thought. I am relieved as I know my parents would gladly watch the kids for 5 hours, I wouldn’t feel 💯 safe for them. Even after three covid tests.

Are they fully vaccinated? If so, and they're not CEV, they're at very low risk now.... You'd be more at risk at an unvaccinated 30-something.

Yes both parents are fully vaccinated. They have been for a few months now
