when it comes to the corona virus, its funny how many otherwise intelligent people I know have borderline deranged about it ,endless paranoid whatsapps and links to bonkers facebook posts
You wont catch me putting that poison in my arm, the say, I`m not stupid Sorry but no, you are stupid , A killer virus that has paralysed the world, brought the economy to its knees, cost millons of people their lives and livelihoods, driven us all half with fear and grief and you dont want to your free immunisation that scientists have worked around the clock to develop it in record time so you can avoid becoming a statistic .True, for a tiny few the vaccine does present a serious health threat but so does any medication,
Yet people still dont get it, in London, there are already hundreds of cases of the indian varient, mainly its because too few residents have had the jab, Its an act of supreme selfishness and irresponsibility , not least because it wont be the vaccine refuseniks who are left to clear up the mess, but the NHS , and they, I think you will agree , are long overdue a break

Think you'll find there are more cases of the Delta variant in the NW of England than in London.

Crowtooyo · 06/06/2021 08:16

It is called the delta

Ok, well, I've had both my jabs now (AZ, even though I'm under 40). I was fine to have these because the risk of covid is probably higher for me and one of my family, and, crucially, because I thought this was a route out of the restrictions. I had side effects, but so far, luckily, nothing serious, but it was a huge worry, but I did it anyway.

But now I keep hearing we might go back into fecking lockdown, I've had one DC isolating because someone in his preschool had it this week and I don't feel as if we are getting any of our freedoms back. I was fine with lockdown one, sucked it up, homeschooled, didn't take a keyworker place in the second lockdown when we probably could have, cancelled plans at Christmas etc etc.

We have vaccinated the most vulnerable groups now. Some of the less vulnerable groups are hesitant about vaccination and I can't blame them! For some people the vaccination side effects are worse than covid. When did it stop being "protect the most vulnerable and the NHS" and become "everyone has to be vaccinated"? I know it's about heard immunity and stopping mutations etc etc, but that relies on strict border controls (which I don't want, or don't want for long) or most of the entire planet having had Covid and / or vaccination.

Basically, I can understand why young, healthy, non overweight people don't want the vaccine right now. For some the side effects are worse and the restrictions we thought would be lifted when the most vulnerable were vaccinated have not really happened. And I say that as someone who is more vulnerable and is benefitting from all the young, fit and healthy being vaccinated.

And I also don't feel as if people should be coerced into having a vaccination they don't want.

Well said @StevieKnickerbockerglory.

I think this pandemic and the horror stories in the news have screwed with some people’s ability to assess risk, and their ability to keep their nose out of other people’s business.

Both common sense and human decency left the building in early 2020, and I can’t wait until they come back (if they ever do).

Very good post.

Why have the government forgotten about natural immunity to previously acquired covid infection? According to the latest studies antibodies will last for years and are more well rounded than the vaccination and should protect against all new variants (considering those who had original SARS are naturally immune to SARS-COV2 and there immunity has lasted 17 years. Surely it would make sense for the young to gain herd immunity naturally and for those worried or vulnerable get vaccinted. Why on earth are the government want to push these vaccines onto children and teens when they do not suffer from covid? Long covid may be a type of post viral fatigue which will pass. For those who were hospitalized the long covid may be oragan/ blood vessel damage but that is usually not an issue for the young so please tell me why anyone healthy under the age of 40 who have a 0.02% chance of death from covid need an experimental emergency only authorized vaccine? With completely new vaccine technology? One that is causing menopausal women to bleed, causing blood clots, strokes and myocarditis in young people? There is 0 reason. only to line pharmaceutical companies pockets however. I really do not understand how people cannot see this. People are acting as if covid has an IFR like Ebola it's ridiculous and scary how the propaganda certainly has worked so easily on people
