Moving a second AZ appointment earlier

Has anyone managed to do this?

Partner has second appointment booked exactly 11 weeks after his first one, which puts him into the middle of July.

He'd like to move it earlier - I know that he'd have to cancel the second one and gamble on finding an earlier appointment, but wondered if earlier options are appearing.

The phone line just told him it's only for over 50s to do that, but I don't believe that.

Yes. Had to change my second appointment this morning due to work commitments. Did it online and they were offering me jabs from eight weeks after first vaccine so booked it in and having it this week rather than the end of the month.

I had a second one earlier than booked ( by about 3 weeks) but that was at a vaccination centre that had drop ins with no appointment.
Any facility like that near you?

Thanks. I've just read another thread on the same issue, and it looks a bit random - maybe it's dependent on postcode or something.

Don't know. I had mine through a GP invite/had to go to a hospital for it, so haven't engaged properly on what's going on with vaccine centres. Will look now. They've just started surge testing near here, so maybe there will be some open options for walkins at some point.

I work on 119 vaccine booking in England. If you have not had a text inviting you to move your appointment forward then do not cancel your original appointment to see what's there as you run a real risk of losing your original appointment. As someone has correctly assumed it is dependent on appointments available in your location. If they have the space to bring you forward you will get a text.

There’s been speculation in the press today that group 10 (over 40s) will be invited to do this. I’d sit tight and wait for an announcement. I have similar timings to your DH and am booked in at a very convenient appointment at 11 weeks. I’m thinking stick rather than twist but will wait for the invitation before deciding.

My town is doing drop in sessions for anyone eligible for their first or second doses, is yours doing anything like that?

I chanced cancelling and rebooking yesterday online. Gone from 11 weeks to 8 weeks after first AZ vaccine. Was nervous but was shocked to see so many appointments available. I’m in the 40-49 bracket. X

It's not that things are made up, just inconsistent. Which they absolutely are. It has seemed very random at some points. Ie, my brother who lives further away from x large vaccination centre than us being offered next day appts, at exactly the same time as partner was being offered next month appts in the same vaccination centre. We don't know the post code variations stuff admits not publicised.

Age etc and depending what vaccine is being offered at what centre is also a factor.it’s a fluid situation.

The other day for example I had someone moaning at me she had to go 3 miles further than her mother did. Her mother had AZ, Shen was in her 30s. 🙄

I’m a regular but NC for this. I’m tired of the mis truths.
