Cordoning off every other toilet and sink in an attempt to enforce social distancing...meaning people are clustered tightly in a queue, chatting for longer

@cannotfindanickname same here
Please remove your mask with filter which fits and have this paper one with massive gaps
I pointed out I was shielding and wasn't coming into hospital without a FFP2 so I ended up having to wear that, plus the paper one over it

I’ve just been asked to sanitise my hands to ... have a pedicure Grin

MustStopSnacking28 · 05/06/2021 12:12

Mine is a toilet one too. My building at work originally propped all toilet doors open onto the corridor and you had to queue outside if one person was in there. So my office was essentially opening straight into the ladies toilets. It was a complete invasion of privacy and just a ridiculous idea! Plus everyone then decided to use the unisex toilets instead so it just encouraged everyone to walk further and mix in toilets that weren’t even nearby.

ChocOrange1 · 05/06/2021 12:35

There are less people allowed in pools anyway, lockers are packed together. Closing the alternate lockers seems logical no? Or am I missing something?
People will be hanging around the locker area longer trying to find one.
Lockers aren't 2 metres apart anyway, if you had to close them then you would have to close a whole bank between each one and the next.

Imnothereforthedrama · 05/06/2021 12:40

Thankfully they scraped the one way system at my Asda it was a pain in the arse that I had to go all the way to the bottom of the aisle even if I didn’t want anything from that aisle I wasn’t allowed to cut across I did once and was told off .
Also the sanitise as you went in , people were congregating around as a member of staff would insist everyone sanitised . I pointed this out once and was told it had to be done even though more than likely to catch Covid all stood around together but no the sanitise must be done . The following week it wasn’t enforced so I mustn’t if been the only one that complained .

Waist high barriers at the payment machines at the car park

Hoppinggreen · 05/06/2021 13:20

My dc not being able to have a school photo together was one I couldn’t wrap my head around.

eurochick · 05/06/2021 13:29

John Lewis blue water. Ordered to make my child wear weird pop sock things to try on shoes by a woman wearing a mask below her nose. I'm unaware that feet are a well-known way of spreading a respiratory disease. Wearing her mask properly might have helped though...

@isthismylifenow

Well here in my country they banned the sale of cigarettes and alcohol.

Then they lifted the cigarette ban, but booze was still off the table. Then when the restrictions lifted slightly we were able to buy alcohol from Monday to Thursday.

Our cases are rising again and we were changed back to a higher level, and the queue at the bottle store was quite something, just incase it was restricted again.

That’s weird. Here alcohol and marijuana were considered “essential” so the only shops open apart from those selling food and medications were liquor stores and pot shops. You couldn’t buy seeds to grow flowers and vegetables in your garden but could buy a bottle of vodka, fast food from a drive through and marijuana from a windowless shop that has to keep the door closed. And they said it was all about our health.
musicalfrog · 06/06/2021 07:35

Went to a theme park recently. They leave every other car on the roller coaster free so you're further away from each other on the 2-3 minute ride, so you can spend EVEN LONGER stood right next to each other in the queue. 🙄

Roonerspismed · 06/06/2021 07:43

Argh the closing all toilets so everyone has to queue and cram into one disabled loo which is by that point filthy. What is the bloody point?!

musicalfrog · 06/06/2021 07:44

@NavalGazer

The Sainsbury thing with the cafe- wouldn’t be surprised if they never reopen.

They’ve closed their fish counters and deli counters and meat counters - saying you can get it pre packed on the aisles but you don’t have the same selection especially of fish.

They are now closing their patisserie counters.

I’ve been a loyal Sainsbury shopper for 20 years but have just signed up for an Ocado account.

We really miss their antipasti from the deli counter. I know they had to redeploy the staff early on in the pandemic because of illness and isolation etc but surely now things have calmed down a bit. The hot chicken and sushi sections never closed so I'm not sure how they prioritised it all.
supermum87 · 06/06/2021 07:44

At my work there are signs in the kitchen and a supply of ani antibacterial wipes saying we must disinfect the kettle every time we use it (possibly fair enough)

However we do not need to disinfect the fridge when we open/close it, the bin when we put waste in it, the taps when we turn them on...apparently only the kettle spreads Covid Confused

StealthPolarBear · 06/06/2021 07:49

B and q offer a service to cut the huge lengths of wood they sell to the lengths you want. Because of covid they can only offer one cut per customer per day. (I wanted a 2m length cut into four)

Bargebill19 · 06/06/2021 07:51

One way system in an empty warehouse at night.
Being told eating raw or undercooked meet was neither a cure not a preventative measure for covid.

Jasmine245 · 06/06/2021 08:03

Local covid vaccination centre where they make you sit 1m apart in a unventilated room for 15 minutes post vaccination with all the windows closed yet as soon as you leave your set a volunteer wipes it down with alcohol. You would think at least a vaccination centre would realise it is airbourne.

GrumpySausage · 06/06/2021 08:12

Toby carvery. Like a lot of other carvery places, they put it on the plate for you as you frantically point at more potatoes but for some reason once they've finished, instead of handing you the plate, they give it to another waiter who then follows you back to your seat. They then put it down in front of you, leaning over within cm of you.

To me this is just adding another person to the chain? Why can't I carry my own plate? Why is the chef allowed to hand the plate to the waiter but not me? Does covid not affect Toby carvery plate carriers?

Other places I've been to put your plate of a lazy Susan or a sliding draw and push it across.

It's a minor thing but it's puzzled me since I last went.

Wherediditgo · 06/06/2021 08:17

A pub car park across the road from my son’s nursery had a sign saying something like ‘due to Covid restrictions, this car park will close at 6pm’
Confused

LadyOfTheFlowers · 06/06/2021 08:21

School pick up and drop off - having to wear a mask while stood outside in open air on playground

  • having to go into the playground to collect year 6 children at all and not just letting them do it themselves meaning there would be 60 less adults stood around
  • scanning track and trace to walk into a field to watch kids play sport
  • sitting in a pub/ restaurant / cafe and having to wear a mask when you stand up but not while sat down
bonbonours · 06/06/2021 08:25

At a local outdoor attraction (similar to go ape). We can climb on the thing, passing close to other people, touching all the grab rails and ropes (approx 20 people on it). We can also use a locker (ie touch the locker door) but we can't have a locker token to lock the locker, because of Covid.....

Wherediditgo · 06/06/2021 08:26

@SnugglySnerd

I thought of this thread whilst at a NT place today. They had closed the proper toilets in which there are about 8 cubicles, baby change and actual sinks with soap (and I assume similar in the gents) and replaced them with 3 portaloos for use by everyone with a massive thing of sanitizer on a table outside them. No logical reason for this that I could work out, plus 4 year old ds refused to use the portaloo so didn't do a wee all day.
NT places are the worst for pointless Covid theatre!
Wherediditgo · 06/06/2021 08:29

I don’t understand the closing off of every other toilet cubicle either?!

In some places, a screen is literally used as a mitigating measure? So why isn’t a cubicle door classed as one??

cushioncovers · 06/06/2021 08:37

Yes stupid toilet restrictions so more people are forced to use less toilets cubicles HmmHmm

Greenandcabbagelooking · 06/06/2021 08:42

B and Q forcing me to take a trolley. I wished to purchase one lightbulb. The light bulbs are upstairs, meaning my pointless troller and I had to cram into a lift twice.

I really did not need a flatbed trolley for one domestic lightbulb.

I expect it is down to a misinterpretation of government guidelines which stated table service only. Even if they are complete nonsense when a carvery is concerned.
