Extreme tiredness after Moderna anyone else?

MotherQueenXeno · 01/06/2021 11:51

I had my first modern vaccine on Sunday and have been so tired for the last two days that I can barely function. No fever or anything else but the fatigue is awful.

Has anyone else had this and if so how long did it last?

Yes, I had exactly that and spent a whole day lying on the bed, and the next morning too. I think I could function again after two days, it wold be difficult to say how many days in total I was tired for but definitely two days of heavy fatigue.

tulips27 · 01/06/2021 12:33

Forgot to say, mine did not begin on day one, I think it began two days after the vaccine. I haven't had lingering or long-lasting fatigue if that's any reassurance.

MotherQueenXeno · 01/06/2021 12:36

Thank you that is reassuring, hoping to feel better tomorrow. I feel like I have weights strapped round me dragging me down at present.

I felt like this after Pfizer and they're very similar. I just wanted to lie on the sofa. Unfortunately my two year old had other ideas! The extreme tiredness only lasted a couple of days, I probably felt a bit off and tired for 4-5 days but nothing that interfered with normal life - just like I'd had a late night.

Comefromaway · 01/06/2021 12:43

I was really tired but it was a pleasant tiredness in that I just wanted to lie on the sofa and be lazy.

tulips27 · 01/06/2021 12:47

Mine was pretty bad, it was all I could do to get up and get a glass of water!

itsgettingwierd · 01/06/2021 12:51

I was like this after the pfeizer.

I had my sofa collected a few hours after it and the nes one was coming following afternoon.

I laid on the lounge floor for 10 mins shut eye and woke up 3 hours later still feeling tired HmmGrin

So it's not unusual then. I took my son to the park earlier and had to keep walking in circles to keep myself from slumping in a heap on the ground.

I had naively convinced myself that because my parents in their 70's had no after effects from their AZ jab, I was even less likely to have any as I am in my 30's. How wrong I was. Just want to lie on sofa and for my children to go away! Poor kids!

It seems to be that younger people get more side effects than older.

nordica · 01/06/2021 13:01

I had it for the first evening after having my jab in the morning, and was lots better the next day (I was working from home) but still had an early night. It's not surprising really as your immune system will be working pretty hard.

SonnetForSpring · 01/06/2021 13:20

I had that for a couple of days. Then I got covid arm but that only lasted a couple of days too.

whatswithtodaytoday · 01/06/2021 13:30

Younger people actually tend to get more side effects because their immune systems are more active. My parents didn't have any side effects from their AZ either, but almost all my friends in their 40s who had it felt really unwell for a day or two.

MotherQueenXeno · 01/06/2021 13:35

That's interesting about younger people, I am glad I didn't know that before getting it done. Still despite the fatigue I am relieved to have had it.

DH and I both in our 50s. He spent a day in bed after his Moderna. I felt a bit tired after my Moderna but had no problem doing a full day's work.

Four teens all had Pfizer. Their only side effect was a sore arm.

Llmoyad · 01/06/2021 18:45

Early 30s and was also really tired for about a week after the Pfizer jab

MummaPI · 01/06/2021 20:50

Yes, for 2 evenings after I was dozing off after work! Actually had the best nights sleep those nights in a long time!

shewalkslikerihanna · 01/06/2021 22:42

Don’t know which vax friends dd had 6 weeks ago
But she sleeps more than she’s awake.
It’s absolutely drained her

MotherQueenXeno · 03/06/2021 09:37

I had my AZ a week ago. I was poorly with flu like symptoms for a day or two but since then I've been wiped out with fatigue. I'm just sleeping all of the time 😬
