How long in between was your second dose?

Had my first vaccine on Saturday Pfizer one.
My second is booked in for exactly 11 weeks from my first.
What are the guidelines?
Is that the soonest I will get the second or should I keep checking to see if any other slots come up?
Just interested to know what other people have waited in between and what is the recommended time between doses?
Thanks 😊

The trouble is when you go into your booking, you have to cancel existing booking before you can see what is available to book. My DH had his second at 10 weeks after being contacted by GP.

According to the guidelines was supposed to rebook mine (AZ) for an earlier date, but as I wasn't planning on doing much in the way of social mixing I left it as it was, so 12 weeks. I was a bit anxious about the ramifications of cancelling the original anyway, since nobody had contacted me personally to say I ought to reschedule.

MrsBennetsnerves · 31/05/2021 16:19

Mine was booked for 11 weeks and, as the guidelines only charged 10 days before the 2nd I didn't try to change it.

Mine is booked for 11weeks after the 1st. Still ages away.

RedRiverShore · 31/05/2021 16:23

Mines for 11 weeks, I didn't bother to change it, I did have an email a couple of days ago saying I could bring to forward, I also got a text with the wrong appointment time onConfused, correct appointment was on the email. DH also got a text with the wrong appointment time on...

I hope too many other people didn't get this because it could have been worrying for some.

Mine will be twelve weeks and, like others say, you have to cancel existing appointment to make a new one, which I don't want to risk.

I had my second AZ jab exactly 10 weeks after the first one.

plixy · 31/05/2021 16:49

My drs contacted me after 8 weeks to say I could book my second but I had to wait a week for the appointment so I had it yesterday at exactly 9 weeks.

Blueberrycreampie · 31/05/2021 16:53

I had to cancel my second AZ due to family commitments. It was 11 weeks after the first, and now 12 weeks.

minnimiss · 31/05/2021 16:57

I had my AZ 8 weeks apart. I'm only 39 but was called early by GP for both because of very minor underlying health condition.

CyberPixie · 31/05/2021 16:59

13wks 5 days. AZ.

AlmostSummer21 · 31/05/2021 17:02

AZ 1st in Feb second 11 weeks later (booking options covered 10/11/12 weeks)

However, with the Indian variant I'd get the second one as close to 8 weeks as possible.

I had the Pfizer vaccine. I had the text to have my second dose eight weeks after the first (I was expecting a 12 week gap) but happily went along to have it done then 14 days keeping my head down after that. 🌹

kimlo · 31/05/2021 18:56

Originally it was 12 weeks but I brought it forward so it was 2 months to the day.

Newestname001 · 31/05/2021 20:16

I wonder if the shorter time between doses was because there was a fear there'd be a shortage of, for example, of the Pfizer vaccine? I think the EU were threatening to ban exports around the same time? I think Pfizer vaccines were being kept aside for second doses then. 🌹
