How long after first jab did you get second jab?

Just wondering whether anyone who has both shots actually had a gap of 12 weeks between them. I was notified to book mine after 10 weeks and ended up getting it after about 10 and a half weeks.

@Saisong

I got the text to book my second today - 6 weeks on the nose from my first. Do you think I should only book for the 8 week stage - I've heard that 8+ weeks is optimal?
Maybe discuss that with a professional I'd say.

Mine were exactly 10 weeks apart

11 weeks

I am in another country and here they give you Pfizer and Moderna 28 days apart.

AstraZeneca is a 8 week gap.

They book your 2 appointments at the same time.

Was happy mine was over and done with in just 4 weeks.

BigMoveHome · 28/05/2021 05:56

Just to clarify if you have Pfizer you also get Pfizer again for your 2nd jab etc.

Sometimesfraught82 · 28/05/2021 05:56

Any difference in side effects first and second?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 28/05/2021 06:08

My second is booked at 11 weeks

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/05/2021 06:42

I'm 30 and booking opened this week - had to book both jabs at the same time. Having my first tomorrow and second on 15th August, so almost exactly 12 weeks.

Egghead68 · 28/05/2021 06:50

My personal opinion is that the gain in efficacy between 6 & 8 weeks is minimal, however, the increased efficacy of being double vaccinated, now with the India variant being the main variant, is a huge.

I was invited for my second and the option meant it could be the 10th week or the 11th week. I took the 11th week to get that little extra gain, but that was before the India variant was here. Now I'd get the second ASAP

PixieDust28 · 28/05/2021 06:55

12 weeks exactly. Doctors kept texting to book in from 9 weeks.
No thank you, the guidance is 12 weeks for a reason.

Hard to say, I regularly have headaches, aching joints, fatigue etc & so hard to know if any of what I felt came from AZ or just my usual stuff, it was certainly no worse. The second one the same thing.

None of my f/f had many side effects first time and all (about 15) said they didn't have any the second time, bar one whose arm was a little sore the second time.

AZ is said to have fewer side effects second dose while Pfizer is the opposite.

Especially with the IV it's very important to have the second injection!

And the recent guidance is to get the second one from 8 weeks because having two is more beneficial than than the gain from waiting longer. Don't forget, initially the guidance was 3 weeks.

I had AZ and first time round, 24 hours after I felt feverish but that only lasted the afternoon but had a really really sore arm.

Had my second AZ on Saturday and (touch wood) not had any of that.

GogCymraeg · 28/05/2021 07:04

Everyone over 40 years old in my area are invited to book their second dose now if 8 weeks have passed since the first. I'll be having my second AZ jab on 8 June! (I'm 41)

Everything seems to be going well here in Wales with the vaccine roll-out. 50% of 18-29 year olds have had their first vaccine.

PixieDust28 · 28/05/2021 07:04

@AlmostSummer21 only for the people in 1-9 groups, not everyone.
The other groups should still be wit 11-12 weeks per recent guidance unless extreme circumstances.

PixieDust28 · 28/05/2021 07:05

waiting* not wit.

Northernsoullover · 28/05/2021 07:18

6 weeks. Pfizer.

breadbinbaby · 28/05/2021 07:22

I had Pfizer and my second will be 5.5 weeks after first (the first date they offered me, which I couldn’t make, was less than 5 weeks.) I was really surprised!

Paddingtonthebear · 28/05/2021 07:26

I had first AZ vaccine on 22nd March and second one on 20th May

Paddingtonthebear · 28/05/2021 07:28

So 9 weeks in between. No reaction to either.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 28/05/2021 07:29

12 weeks and 1 day

I had it at a hospital clinic for health and social care workers. I wasn't allowed to book a second jab before 12 weeks.

No, that's not what they said. Groups 1-9 have priority, but if you're invited sooner you need to go & get your second.

It's about priority, if they could do everyone at 8 weeks, they would be, because having both vaccinations is more effective against the India variant than the gain in waiting longer.
