Matt Hancock heading, and I have to say I don't envy him.

I suppose it just gets it out the way. Better to face the media head on than spend days hiding.

Do we know what time?

Is this the day they'll be announcing whether the next/last phase will go ahead?

Ok. Great. It is the later ones that are more worrying.

They don't have enough evidence yet to say about the next roadmap stuff I think. Fergusson and some else from SAGE were saying yesterday they need a bit longer.

I reckon a big shout out about how well vaccines are doing. Reassurance that Bolton cases are leveling off now. Reminder of how important it is to get second jab done.

Then the real point of the briefing. To get Hancock's carefully selected but awkward questions sorted. He will avoid answering to directly and have a set response to reassure the public.

Hancock is answering urgent question now.

I hope one of the journalists gives him a hard time, though I know it won't be from the BBC, who are scared of the government taking revenge re the licence fee.

I watched the HoC earlier & felt he was getting a bit of respect & support from his colleagues.

Damning indictment from dominic though that Boris was keeping Matt in his back pocket to sacrifice at some later date.

Will be interesting to hear what he has to say about care homes, although I doubt we will ever get to the bottom of that to be honest.
