Clotting fear

I had my first astrazeneca vaccine in March. I am clinically vulnerable and was terrified of catching covid. I was absolutely over the moon to get the vaccine, even though it made me extremely poorly for a week.
Then the clotting issues started to appear on the news and the announcement that under 40s to get a different vaccine a week before my second was due Confused I am 36.
I went and has the second vaccine last Friday. Since then I've had a headache. I remember having a 2 week headache the first time. I am so worried I am going to get blood clots! I can't stop thinking about it, my stomach is in knots, my headache probably being caused my tension and anxiety as much as anything else. It says the risk is something like from 4 to 40 days after. I'm not going to spend the next 40 days constantly worrying.
Why has this had to happen?!!! I feel like I'm stuck having astrazeneca boosters etc from now on that I feel forced to have because of my vulnerability. Covid sucks!!

I know how you feel. I had my 2nd a week ago and I'm so paranoid! Doesn't help that I've had low platelets in the past. I can't seem to take my mind off it.

Can someone please help me understand about low platelets in context of covid/covid vaccination:
Aren't low platelets in covid patients or people who had covid vaccination a sign that platelets are "congregating" elsewhere in the body, potentially leading to blood clots?

I think it's incredibly unlikely you'll be unwell/have clotting after the second if you didn't after your first.

Get a complete blood test from a reputable company. I use Vitall. They’ll measure your platelet levels for some peace of mind. Of course don’t rely on them and go to A&E if you have any of the described symptoms to watch out for.

If you read this article you will see that when Oxford university looked at the numbers from the USA and Europe they found the incidence of these clots after the AZ was only slightly higher than after Pfizer/Moderna, and the risk was the other way for other clots. But anyway, the incidence of clots was very low indeed. The risk of clots if you have Covid, however, is much higher, not to mention other complications.

Clots are even rarer after the second dose.

I had ten days of headaches after my second AZ jab. I went to A&E after a week as I was concerned. They did a blood test after they found my blood pressure to be high. The blood test came out ok. I am now four weeks post jab and feel normal. The headaches subsided after about ten days after the jab. A friend of mine also had a headache for a week after her second jab and is completely fine.

I'm.63 and had second AZ yesterday. They said if you get a persistent headache go Dr

If you have a headache for more than 4 days speak to doctor and they will give you a blood test to put your mind at ease.
