Does anyone have any recent experience of how long PCR tests are taking to turn around at the moment?

Less than 24 hours.

brokenhairband · 24/05/2021 14:19

Hope so. The centre said 4 days!

12 hours for us last week.

PlugUgly1980 · 24/05/2021 14:42

12 hours for us last Tuesday. We went to a drive through test centre at 8:00, and had the negative results back via text and email at 20:01. We had a similar experience a few months prior too.

Extrapepperoni · 24/05/2021 14:45

DD had PCR at 9:30 on Monday, had an email with results at 3am - so about 18 hours. Good luck, fx for a negative!

HippoNamedBooBooButt · 24/05/2021 14:49

DS had PCR at 10.30am yesterday and results back 2am

It really does vary widely. We've tested DS twice. The first time (September last year so not accurate to time frames now but it was 3 days!) The second time it was was 20 hours which I was impressed with. More recently for myself it was 1.5 days!

brokenhairband · 24/05/2021 15:33

Thanks all - more reassuring. Test 10am this morning so hoping for a result before tomorrow work/school etc. It was at a drive through centre.

Rainbowsandstorms · 24/05/2021 15:43

everythingthelighttouches · 24/05/2021 15:51

12 hours yesterday. East Midlands

For travel I believe you have to pay for private testing and can’t use nhs.

everythingthelighttouches · 24/05/2021 15:55

Sorry for the detail but..

There was an episode of you and yours about travel testing this afternoon.

Worth a listen because if you get it wrong and choose the wrong test, they will not let you board.

everythingthelighttouches · 24/05/2021 15:56

Derail !

DonEmmanuelsDingleberries · 24/05/2021 15:58

Tested at a drive through at 9.30am on Friday. Results emailed around 2am Saturday, so 16.5 hours.

Fitforforty · 24/05/2021 16:26

10 hours last week for symptoms one in test centre and 14 hours for postal ones we did as we are in a surge area.

StripyHorse · 24/05/2021 16:30

For ones in a test centre it is usually within 24 hours. For DD, test at 8:30am it was back around 9pm so everyone could return to work / school.

HuddyBib · 24/05/2021 16:31

2 days max

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 24/05/2021 18:19

Make sure your destination only needs test results. Most countries seem to require a certificate, and those are only issued privately.

ItsSnowJokes · 24/05/2021 18:22

13 hours 16 minutes between handing over the test and getting the result (gave in at 08.45 and result came through at 22.01). I was impressed.

NotBot · 24/05/2021 19:03

Between 12-16 hours here, they are quick now thankfully!

Bertie1812 · 24/05/2021 19:11

Had a test last Monday at 10.30am, had results by 7.30pm

Crunchymum · 24/05/2021 21:18

Test 10.30am on Sunday, results 5am on Monday.

brokenhairband · 25/05/2021 09:27

13 hours in the end. Not too bad at all.
