Any side effects after second AZ jab?

Just had a call to go for mine tomorrow. I felt awful for several days after my first. Anyone had both and can compare experiences for me? I’d be very grateful. Thank you

May I suggest you use the search thread facility. You will find hundreds of posts on numerous threads that discuss effects after the first and second jabs.

It's really quite a useful tool

Missypuff30 · 24/05/2021 12:06

Had mine yesterday. Felt fine all day, then shivers and fever overnight. Bit of a headache and sore arm, but pretty okay today.

A lot better than my first dose so far!

Youngatheart00 · 24/05/2021 12:27

@PlanetOfTheApesLives there’s really no need to be rude. I did scan down the topics and found plenty on AZ but these were centred around side effects from first jab and / or concerns around blood clots.

@Missypuff30 thank you and glad you’re now feeling better. I’ve got such a busy week work wise Im really hoping i don’t get struck down like with the first - going to stock up on paracetamol I think just in case.

Had my second one on Thursday and had no side effects at all. Felt ropey and fluey and headachey for about 24 hours after the first one.

someseriousshit · 24/05/2021 12:40

Had mine on Saturday. Had a cracking headache yesterday, and sore arm. I was fit for nothing all day, just laid on the sofa watching crap TV Grinbut feel better this morning. Just a bit of a sore arm. I was really knocked for 6 after the 1st jab, felt like I had been trampled by an elephant, fever and headache and nausea but this time it was a lot better. I have had Covid previously though. I was told at my 1st jab I might experience stronger side-effects as I should still have antibodies from infection at Xmas.

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 24/05/2021 12:43

I had mine on Saturday after feeling very unwell with my first and no side effects apart from a rheumatoid arthritis flare up in my wrists which went with anti inflammatories. Last time my entire body flared and I was pregnant so no anti inflammatories Sad but no headache or chills or nausea fortunately!

Inaquandry19 · 24/05/2021 12:44

No side effects from second dose, fluey and shaky for a day with the first.

baggies · 24/05/2021 12:45

This time much much better. Felt tired and headachy for a day or too but no flu like symptoms. I'm retired but if I was working could have still gone to work.

Confuzzlediddled · 24/05/2021 12:47

DH had his 2nd on Saturday, felt awful with the first for a day, fever, shivers, fluey.

2nd, apart from a slightly painful arm, nothing

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 24/05/2021 12:47

Had my 2nd AZ dose on Friday, no side effects apart from slightly sore arm. That said, I had no side effects with my 1st dose either apart from slightly sore arm.

itstimeforme · 24/05/2021 12:51

Felt very unwell with first, no side effects at all with second, not even a sore arm!

Youngatheart00 · 24/05/2021 12:57

Thanks all - looks like I’m in for an easier ride but will probably give the gym a miss until the weekend if I’m likely to have a sore arm!

I had my 2nd on Saturday - no side effects so far. The Doctor who administered it said you are less likely to get side effects with the 2nd dose. I did not even feel the needle this time, it really hurt at my 1st jab.

With the 1st I had a sore arm, shivers and a flu like feeling but all went within a couple of days.

Mulberry974 · 24/05/2021 13:47

Had my second this last Saturday. Felt slightly warm a few hours later but absolutely fine since. And I felt quite feverish and very tired after my first jab.

SpringLoadedJizz · 24/05/2021 14:38

I was so ill after my first, chills and sweating the first night and could barely get out of bed for 2 days, then really felt the effects for a good week after that. Could hardly move my arm the whole time.

I had my second a few days ago and I'm absolutely fine this time. I don't even have a sore arm and can lie on my left side (when I couldn't after my first, that was back or right side only for about that first week.) There's a smallish lump at the injection site but I have to feel for it.

I am a little tired today but I've also got fibromyalgia and have had a really busy weekend so it's more than likely burn out from that.

gummywitch · 24/05/2021 15:17

Only got 1 night of chills/shivering/headache after my first AZ in early March. Had second jab last thursday morning and been wiped out for 3 days with what's felt like a stronger, longer-lasting, version, with random tummy pains too. A lot more tired this time round as well.Totally wasn't expecting too feel as bad. I also got a weird pain which went down into my hand within minutes of the jab and arm seems more painful than last time. Feeling a lot better today but not completely back to normal. Tired mostly which is weird as all I've done is rest and watch Netflix. DH didn't get a single side effect from both jabs. Pisses me off haha

Karmatime · 24/05/2021 15:53

I had 24 hours of tiredness, mild headache and a bit hot and cold after my second jab. It was slightly more than I experienced with the first but still pretty mild, I didn’t take paracetamol and it was gone the evening of the day after.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 24/05/2021 16:03

A couple of days of headache and dead arm after jab 1 nothing whatsoever after jab 2

UmamiMammy · 24/05/2021 17:41

I felt terrible for a couple of days after my first and my arm was hot and sore. Had my second on Saturday and other than felling a bit tired yesterday I have been fine, not even a sore arm.

AlmostSummer21 · 24/05/2021 17:57

No, not me or my group of friends/family. All completely fine after the second one (varying degrees of discomfort after the first one!)!

Hope that helps to reassure you.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 24/05/2021 19:01

I had the full in four type symptoms after my first.

I had my second on Wednesday and had nothing immediately after! However, I started with loose bowels on Saturday which is now full on diahorrea. I don’t feel ill, just can’t keep anything in! It’s listed as a common side effect but I’ve not heard of many people complaining of it.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 25/05/2021 00:47

Finally had my second yesterday afternoon. Was hoping for some noticeable side effects to reassure me it was working after having none after the first jab apart from a very slight warmth and tenderness a couple of days after the first jab twelve weeks ago.

bouncydog · 25/05/2021 07:28

Had my second a couple of weeks ago. Took paracetamol an hour after and then every 6 hours as felt not great after 1st. Absolutely fine.

AbsolutelyFudged · 25/05/2021 07:41

Felt terrible by the evening after my first. High temperature, headache, muscle aches and fatigue, very sore arm. Took a couple of days to feel back to normal.

Had my second on Sunday and had the occasional flush come over me that night, but nothing bad at all. The next day however, I had a MONSTER headache come on from nowhere. Never had a headache like that and was on the phone to 111. The painkillers took effect after 20-30 minutes thankfully or I'd have been in A&E. Felt incredibly tired, but not ill once the headache went.

Feel completely fine today.

Overall, I felt much worse after my first. It was just that headache.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 25/05/2021 07:41

Not a single one!
With the first my arm was sore and swollen for ten days, not hugely painful but it lasted a long time.
With the second though, it's as if it never happened.
