Exhausted after Astra Zeneca!

Had first dose in late Feb. Had little to no side effects but did feel slightly tired at some point after. May have just been coincidence.

Fast forward to second dose the other day. I have spent the week exhausted. I literally haven't had the energy to do anything. I have been napping where I can.

Is this normal? It's now been nearly a week and I am very very tired! Sleeping all night, napping in the day between things. Slept for 3 hours today - I never nap in the day usually!

Currently laying in bed this evening again. Anyone else had this?! Do I just rest and let my body do it's thing or force myself up?!

Rest.

I was definitely rough for a day after 2nd Pfizer. Give yourself a bit of time, sounds like your immune system is busy doing it’s thing and wants you lying down to conserve energy for now.

Oh - I would also book a call with your GP practice nurse so they are across it. But don’t panic.

I spoke to my doctor a couple days ago about the headaches and also said I was so tired. He didn't seem concerned but I definitely will again if it don't have an energy boost 😒 I can't say it's all the vaccine. I was feeling a little tired the week before. My anxiety has been really bad lately and it's knocked me for six but seems worse the last week since vaccine!

With my first dose I felt extreme tiredness the week after. But I can't say for sure it was the vaccine though! I do get tired due to my busy lifestyle, work and two dc with additional needs but this does seem extreme! Usually I am pretty busy during the day but I haven't got energy to do a thing. Took the kids out for a couple hours first thing and I come home and slept!

You definitely aren’t alone, it’s a pain...

Had my second on Thursday. Was OK until Friday afternoon when my joints that normally ache a bit started to really hurt. Had terrible guts, yesterday and everything felt like wading through treacle. Woke up feeling like today was going to be more of the same but after some breakfast and a massive fart I felt a lot better, like a switch had been flicked.

Nothing like as bad as the first dose, though. That wrote off an entire day.

Yep I think it’s normal. I had my first one in February and I’m still horrifically tired all the time still. Had every blood test under the sun and the only thing I had different was the vaccine.

I had a mild hangover feeling for 24 hrs from AZ. I was reluctant prior.

hemhem · 23/05/2021 20:28

I had all the 'common' side effects after 1st dose, lasted 48hours though not a week. I'd definitely speak to GP if its been more than a week of side effects

fiorentina · 23/05/2021 20:39

I had AZ 2 weeks ago and still feel exhausted. Had one day of feeling fluey but feel wiped out, no proper energy to exercise, tired at work. I was a bit worn out before but now feel really exhausted. I feel very frustrated to be honest, spent the last year eating healthily, exercising and taking care of of myself. Also hoping for any tips for regaining energy.

I am feeling slightly relieved reading this thread to know that I am not alone! Had first dose in March. Spent several hours shivering that evening and had a headache, but fine again within 48 hours. Had second dose 8 days ago. No immediate side effects, but have noticed myself getting much more tired than usual. On Wednesday I was literally struggling to stay awake by mid-afternoon. In my case I shall try to find time to rest, as from experience I know that pushing through tiredness is a migraine trigger for me.
