Second Dose Booking

Our area is obviously a bit ahead of the national programme. I got a text from my GP last week to book for my first jab which has now been done. Today, I got a text from the national rollout to say I was now top of the priority list and to book my jabs. I’m slightly confused as to whether I should use that to book my second dose, or wait for the gp.

For those who’ve been invited by their gp to book ahead of the national rollout, did you get a follow up from the gp to book your second dose, or did you do that through the national system?

The second appointment is booked the same way as first. So if via gp link, wait for that next text from gp.

Thank you! I thought that was probably the case, but didn’t want to sit here idle if I should have been booking.

I waited and got my gp text for second dose. Incidentally when I tried to book it through the nhs site I got an error message so probably can't book the second jab through there if first one was via gp.

I think they are trying to speed up the wait, I was able to book mine earlier than the 12 weeks wait

No you can book via the NBS and have it somewhere else. But it does complicate supply management.

Both my husband and I booked our jab through a gp link and had the vaccine at a local vaccine centre. We had a link sent to us a few days before the first available dates for booking for each dose. Our dates for second jab weren't booked at the same time as first. We had to wait and trust that they would be efficient in contacting us. They were.

There will be 75 days between my vaccines. I looked it up online and it seemed to be policy to do them 77 to 84 days apart. 75 days seems close enough and there has been talk of bringing them closer together anyway.

The link was sent to us via text message.
