Saying covid in my area is increasing and i must follow guidelines 😱

Are they getting jittery about the indian variant? What's going to happen?

You never had texts? There was one sent out at the beginning of the first lockdown... and if you are eligible for the vaccine then you will be getting texts too.

When the Brazilian variant was big in my area, I got an email and then we were offered a door step test a week or so later.

Oh i had a few of these last year

Then I looked up the figures on ONS and Zoe and was reassured

Im in Kent and pretty sure we have had the kent variant.

I was eligible for the vaccine and never got any texts about following the rules.

I’ve never had any texts or emails either but I’ve managed to get a vaccine and will have another next week.
It’s strange op...back in the summer, in my area, the Fire Brigade were fixing signs to lampposts in our village, urging COVID caution and stating there was an increase in numbers in the immediate area. Touch wood, our numbers have always been incredibly low. We were baffled!

I'm in Hampshire, I had a couple of those last year.

I'm not surprised they're sending those messages into the areas with high rates of the Indian variant - I wasn't aware Kent was though.

Try not to worry about it. Hopefully it'll make some people think a bit about what risks they're taking.

Weird - never had a text here either! I have had notifications from the NHS app though.

Am also in Kent and in the one area that has a very large proportion of Indian variant cases (out of a small number in total, but was shocked to see the percentage of Indian variant was over 70%!).
