Finding NHS number

My DP keeps receiving messages about booking his first jab but he hasn't been to see a doctor in god knows how long and we can't work out how to get his NHS number. He can't arrange one without it.

I'm trying to register him with a GP but it is proving difficult.

Does anyone know how to find an NHS number?

Ask his last known GP. You may have to provide photo ID.

Does he have any medical letters at all? It's printed on those.

Nope, no letters. He hasn't seen a doctor / hospital in a really long time, one or two decades rather than a few years.

It is basically hunt for his last known GP isn't it?

If he's actually registered with a GP, you dont need the NHS number - I booked my jabs without it.
I now have a tiny scrap of paper given to me at my first appointment with my NHS number on!

Thanks for this. After putting in all postcodes we've had over the last 10 years and his family, we finally found one that worked! NHS number has been sent to him by text and he's booked in for a vaccination tomorrow.
