Just that really. Was talking to a school mum this morning and was wondering how many people are doing this?

We're not doing it in our household

eurochick · 19/05/2021 09:03

Not twice a week. Around once a week (adults only as our daughter is primary age). There are fewer than three cases in our local area. We tend to do them if we are seeing grandparents or others outside our usual group.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 19/05/2021 09:06

I am. Twice weekly.

I’m on the yougov daily survey site and they asked this question the other day - I think it was around 70% of respondents not taking tests, when I looked anyway.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 19/05/2021 09:07

Here we are: 79%

We are. DD has to for work and DS is for school so I'm doing them too. Only cos it makes me feel like a scientist and I'm bored 🤓

Pushkinia · 19/05/2021 09:10

I am. I’m a peripatetic teacher and schools don’t want me in unless I can prove I’m doing them.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/05/2021 09:10

I'm not at the moment but I might start. DS at primary school. They're available at my workplace but not mandatory.

AlwaysLatte · 19/05/2021 09:12

For my son's secondary school he has to do two home tests a week. We always do them on the same days - tues and fri as it's easier to remember.

OopsUp · 19/05/2021 09:15

I would be if I was in work but I'm working from home.

Archiduchesse · 19/05/2021 09:23

Eldest DC and I are for school and work. Primary DC and DH (WFH) aren't.

Thirtyrock39 · 19/05/2021 09:23

Yes - me (nhs) husband (deputy head) and two secondary school daughters - just not primary aged son
It does make me feel safer going to work and everyone going to school

megletthesecond · 19/05/2021 09:24

I am. 2 dc's are secondary also doing them.

byvirtue · 19/05/2021 09:30

No I think they are a horrendous waste of money and single use plastic.

However I have done one when I needed to sit in a tiny room with someone for 30 mins. I felt it was the polite thing to do, but going about my day to day business chances of me catching and transmitting covid are low.

wendz86 · 19/05/2021 09:31

I am, don't now many other parents that are though.

nordica · 19/05/2021 09:34

Only one a week, but I'm only going somewhere (public transport/close contact with someone outside my household) once a week for the time being as well. No kids and I WFH so chances of catching covid or giving it anyone really low. Waiting until my 1st vaccine has started offering me more protection before I start mixing indoors with anyone else...

H1978 · 19/05/2021 09:37

Both dds, secondary school, are required to take them twice a week. Dh, keyworker, also twice a week. I’m a sahm so don’t really bother. Don’t go out much anyway.

2tired2bewitty · 19/05/2021 09:37

We’re not at the moment, though do all have monthly once’s via the ONS survey. Might start doing them more regularly though as dh is a vicar and we are about to restart in person worship so will be seeing a lot more people close up, some of whom will be vulnerable.

DumplingsAndStew · 19/05/2021 09:38

There was a thread on this just the other day. One person in my house is (out of 3)

SavingsQuestions · 19/05/2021 09:38

No. Did when they were first introduced for a week or 2 but not now.

As for keeping you safe/feeling safe. That only works if others are doing it. Testing wontmake you any safer just tell you if you have the virus (or a false positivd and associated problems - this is the fear for us, so we will only test if symptoms.)

SavingsQuestions · 19/05/2021 09:39

I completely understand people in roles facing others (ie the vicar) doing it to keep others safe and think thats important.

Lougle · 19/05/2021 09:40

Yep. Sunday and Wednesday. DH works in schools and 3 secondary aged children.

Bythemillpond · 19/05/2021 09:41

We do. I had 3 full blown Covid tests last week done by a HCP for work.
We have test kits in the house as well
