Amount spent on unusable PPE

The government are refusing to release details of how much taxpayers money was spent on PPE that didn't conform to the required standards - money that went to businesses without tender who were connected to friends/family of Tory MPs.

While I was aware that some PPE was deficient, I'd assumed until now that the costs involved were quite low.

But the fact that the government is concealing the scale of this suggests that the sums were significant.

Every country has their PPE scandal. I wonder how ours compares? It does sound like it's a large sum of public money.
