I’ve had both doses of vaccine. DH has had one dose. DC are under 10 years old. Live rurally, primary school has about 80 pupils. I have lateral flow test twice a week due to work, DH if he goes to office. We’d take LFT before visiting.

In laws want to leave it “a few more weeks” before we visit each other (4 hour drive, needs overnight stay, in UK, easy as to us visiting them or them coming here). They’ve had both vaccines, are early 70’s, healthy. We all get on fine - as in, we get on well, usually see each other every few weeks (per-Covid). They’re not my parents, so I’m not completely desperate to see them.

DH is hurt by this. Should I step in? Say something? Any comments?

It's their loss. I'd possibly suggest making yourselves unavailable the first time they want to visit...

But realistically, all you can do is try and support your dh, listen to him etc. You could perhaps all him if he feels he could bring it up worn his parents, but saying something to the in laws yourself will not end well, it never does.

What's the reason for leaving it a few more weeks?

Its their choice i suppose. Maybe go at the end of half term, so kids wouldn't have been at school for a few days, that might make them feel a bit happier.

Overnight stays aren't allowed until June at the earliest aren't they? So they are just abiding by the rules? Having the vaccine doesn't mean you can't get covid, or that you can't spread it. You have a job that puts you at risk, and your daughter is going to school. Sounds perfectly reasonable to wait to me.

You can stay overnight from tomorrow
