Just wondered, is the advice still the same, to have AZ it you have allergies that can trigger anaphylaxis and you carry an epipen or has that changed now?

I have been wondering about the same but it is difficult to know when these vaccines have been around for so little and there is so little info about them.

DS carries an epiceno, so we asked a friend working on vaccines research (not COVID specific) and he said that, from what he knew, the Pfizer was the one to avoid.

Epiceno? Epipen even!

My partner is anaphylactic and was told by the vaccination centre he can't have AZ, has to be Pfizer

BadGherkin · 15/05/2021 05:49

I was told I could not have the Pfizer under any circumstances due to my history of allergies (which includes 10+ medications/antibiotics). Have now had the AZ, despite being in the age group it isn’t recommended for, as Pfizer considered more risky for me.

I had the Pfizer yesterday by chance, and they didn’t bat an eyelid when I answered ‘yes’ to having allergies/epi pens. Confused I hadn’t heard that advice before - I’m under 30 so hadn’t bothered researching yet. But I’m still here this morning so I think I’m fine!

We are cev and we're advised not to have the Pfizer so had the AZ, and even with a huge history of reactions to medications we were both absolutely fine a d have had both doses. And yes take your epipen with you.

I was booked in for Pfizer, but the Dr said due to allergies and EpiPen I should have Astra Zeneca.

MRex · 15/05/2021 09:41

It depends what you're allergic to, they have different ingredients. Best to discuss with a doctor.

Pfizer done this morning. They asked about allergies and if I had epipen (yes to both) but said nothing in the ingredients I’m allergic too so all good. Happy to have it done!
