2nd jab brought forward. How’s that going to work?

Over 50 and had jab 1 8 weeks ago. Next one due 8th June and it’s already booked.

How do you think this is going to work?
I looked on the NHS booking website and no change there, possibly too early.

I got a text today inviting me to book from next week. My 2nd was booked back in March for June.

Mindymomo · 14/05/2021 19:41

I have my second booked for 3 weeks today. I don’t want to cancel this and not get an earlier one and unfortunately the website doesn’t let you see what’s available unless you cancel your existing booking first.

I was just wondering this. Over 50 (just) and clinically vulnerable. I've got my second jab booked in 3 weeks time. I had my first one 8 weeks ago yesterday. It's at a mass vaccination centre. At the moment I'm still assuming I'll get it when it's booked. Can't see how they'd rearrange. And I'm very close to a hotspot for the Indian variant.

It'll probably be the same as here (Italy) We were booked for 3rd June and then suddenly last Monday all received a notification email saying come tomorrow. (I'm 55)

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 14/05/2021 20:10

I had my first 10th April and got an SMS from the Drs today saying I could book the 2nd for tomorrow so about 5 weeks between them.

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 14/05/2021 20:14

I'm not cancelling mine for 8th June, I am on holiday for 10 days so the earliest I could have it is about a week early and don't want to risk cancelling and getting one even further away, mine is already a good few miles away.

CthulhuChristmas · 14/05/2021 20:43

I have my second booked for May 30th and I'm hoping they don't cancel it. I'm happy with a 12-week gap and don't want to be called in at short notice.

There's a note on the NHS website about them contacting you directly about bringing forward appointments:

Are they trying to reduce the gap between the doses, not seen the update yet. I'm already passed 8 wks

@Choux

There's a note on the NHS website about them contacting you directly about bringing forward appointments:
I took a risk of cancelling my 2nd appointment and was able to book a much earlier one. Not my preferred location but fine.

Shame you can’t see the available appointments before doing that though.

This is the official info to vaccine centres

www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2021/05/C1290-COVID-19-vaccination-accelerating-second-doses-for-priority-cohorts-1-9-.pdf

Notice, if you are booked within the next 10 days, no need for change. For those after 26 May they will contact you.

Thank you WombatChocolate for finding this and posting it.
