Pfizer - how long after vaccine do side effects start?!

I had my Pfizer jab around 1pm today. By 5pm, my arm started to ache and now I feel really tired and feverish. Isn’t that too early for sideeffects to start?

I felt tired for first 24 hrs and then flu like symptoms and headache kicked in. All better by about 36 hours after.

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 14/05/2021 18:32

I have had 2 Pfizer vaccinations

No. 1 - sore arm after 24 hours and it lasted about 48 hours. No other symptoms.

No. 2 - sore arm after 24 hours and it lasted about 24 hours. No other symptoms.

OP - I hope you feel better soon :)

I have my 1st Pfizer tomorrow. So nervous. Don't want to get sick.

Fudgeytastic · 14/05/2021 18:36

Sore arm for around 24 hour but that was it

jumpbounce · 14/05/2021 18:37

I had 1st Pfizer last week was worried about getting sick, started a thread on here about it for some reassurance. Glad to report that a couple of hours later my arm started to get sore and it was very sore the next day. I was very tired the following day however not certain that could be attributed to the vaccine as I was up in the night with a poorly DC. Other than that I felt completely fine and the arm soreness went by around 48 hours after the vaccine.

I had mind yesterday. I felt tired and achey for about 4 hours this afternoon but much better now.

VerbenaGirl · 14/05/2021 18:42

My DH had his second Pfizer on Wednesday and both times the side effects haven’t been bad or lasted too long - mostly just tiredness for a couple of days, starting a few hours after the jab. He’s absolutely fine today.

LarsErickssong · 14/05/2021 18:44

I had it 5pm on Wednesday, my arm really hurt when I woke up yesterday and was still hurting when I went to bed but got up this morning and it was fine. No other symptoms.

Makinganewthinghappen · 14/05/2021 18:45

I had my first Pfizer dose yesterday morning but so far I haven’t had any side effects. My dog jumped up on my arm before and it was slightly tender but that’s been it.

I don’t know if I’m in the clear yet !

Missreginafalange · 14/05/2021 18:46

I had mine Wednesday at 12pm my arm really ached that evening and when I went to bad was hard to lay that side but by the next morning was gone and has no other side effects.

I had Pfizer.

1st Pfizer end of February - sore patch on arm the size of a 50p piece for 2 days. Slept really well the first night, but wondered if that was more about anxiety reduction than vaccine impact.

2nd Pfizer last Wednesday - much sorer arm, banging head ache on day 3 that might not have been caused by the vaccine. Also day 3 the area where the needle went in started itching.

Nothing really of note - if it was a flu vaccine or even a tetanus jab, I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

littlepeas · 14/05/2021 19:14

I had mine at 10 this morning and felt a bit strange for a few hours this afternoon - just tired and achy arm now.

Whoam · 14/05/2021 19:50

Sore arm and tired I can cope with. I am a hairdresser so have taken Monday off just in case of sore arm. I think the anxiety of having it and the not knowing is the worst as no one ever questions side effects from a flu jab. We have all become obsessed when someone has a jab on "what were your side effects" 🙈

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/05/2021 21:05

We have all become obsessed

Was thinking this last night. Tetanus and meningitis jabs are FAAAAAR worse than this one has been. With arm pain expecially.

Whoam · 15/05/2021 14:08

Feel so nervous 🙈

Sjan82 · 15/05/2021 22:16

Update: got body pains later in the evening and felt like I was coming down with fever. I just went to sleep. Woke up fresh this morning, everything ok except for sore arm.

Update too.... had mine @4.30pm yesterday. Just feel hungover (without the alcohol) and really tender/sore arm today.

Spottyphonecase · 16/05/2021 10:31

I had my 2nd Pfizer on Wednesday. No side effects apart from a sore arm which felt like I had pulled a muscle for 2 days.

Sunny360 · 16/05/2021 11:10

Had mine Friday and just had a slightly tender arm after till yesterday. Nothing else apart from that and went for a run this morning and felt absolutely fine.

Souther · 16/05/2021 11:12

I started with a headache within minutes.
Then achy and unwell for about 24-48 hours

HairyFloppins · 16/05/2021 11:13

Had mine Friday afternoon. Had a sore arm yesterday. Nothing else so far.

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 17/05/2021 18:52

Has anyone had really bad side effects? I've been quite ill since mine (4 weeks ago) but I'm not sure if it's coincidental.
