As Boris has requested. I am.

I am not convinced as to how these help ease the situation - if you symptoms yes test if not there does not seem much point as the test themselves are not fully accurate

lljkk · 14/05/2021 22:23

What is the cost per test?
That's govt borrowing cost we all pay.

ceeveebee · 14/05/2021 22:24

We have been doing this since early March when the DC went back to school

Isolatedizzy · 14/05/2021 23:06

Yes of course because I don't want another lock down!

Not doing it religiously twice a week but definitely before I go and meet friends, the days I go in to work! And when I start meeting people indoors it will be even more important!

Why on earth wouldn't you? I don't get it! The same people who shout about us living with Covid seem to be the same people who won't test, won't isolate - that's what living with Covid looks like! Confused

twelly · 14/05/2021 23:11

Living with covid and getting back to normal does not mean a test twice a week

Why not?
colouringindoors · 14/05/2021 23:15

No. We had Covid in December and I've now had 2 vaccine doses.

I'm pretty sure it's about £7

Wellbythebloodyhell · 14/05/2021 23:17

No. We had Covid in December and I've now had 2 vaccine doses.
This does not mean you can't still catch covid or transmit it on to others Confused
colouringindoors · 14/05/2021 23:18

As many as 384 million kits have been ordered by the UK government at a cost of over £1.3bn

I can't that sum though!

Alfaix · 14/05/2021 23:19

I had my second jab in March and currently have Covid. You can catch it vaccinated unfortunately.

colouringindoors · 14/05/2021 23:19

No, but the chance of me catching it having had it, and being vaccinated twice is very very small. And I follow all sanitising, mask and distancing measures. And I stay outdoors.

They pick up enough to make a difference though. As shown many times over. Positives are confirmed by follow up pcr test. Yes false negatives are an issue but overall they do help, they just shouldn’t be seen as gospel
Watapalava · 14/05/2021 23:23

No

ThisTooShallPass20 · 14/05/2021 23:52

We are already doing it. And so should everyone else!

EveryoneButSam · 15/05/2021 00:06

Erm, pp who doesn't mind the PCR test because it uses less plastic than the LFT... that's the plastic you see. Your test will then go to a lab where they will use a bucket load of single use plastic testing your sample.

ItWasLikeThatWhenIGotHere · 15/05/2021 00:50

I haven’t in the past but now DH and I will be going back to the office on increasingly crowded tube trains for a couple of days a week I’ve picked up a couple of packs and we’ll be doing them at least weekly, and before seeing elderly relatives/dentists/hairdressers.

Vivana · 15/05/2021 01:11

I already do and 1 pcr a week and have for months as part of my job

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 15/05/2021 08:01

At what point do we stop testing?

All the I've had two vaccines and I've got covid brigade makes me think well what's the point if I still get locked up for being mildly Ill or in fact not ill at all?!

Sparklingbrook · 15/05/2021 08:05

I do one a week. I feel like I'm doing my bit and feel happier going to hairdressers/beauticians etc.

Walkaround · 15/05/2021 08:58

You’d better hope they work reasonably well, as they are your only protection from airline crew coming back from countries other people have to quarantine coming back from - taken every few days on return until day 8, whilst being allowed to mix freely in the community.

Walkaround · 15/05/2021 09:01

Ps the idea of people testing twice a week every week is to make up for the false negatives, as the risk of this is reduced by the frequency of testing. It is not appropriate to do a test once in a while before you go to visit relatives.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 15/05/2021 09:51

Yes have done them since December for work.

Magpiecomplex · 15/05/2021 09:53

Not only that, the single use plastic in the LFT kits is already in existence - whether it's disposed of unused or used makes no difference to the environmental impact.

Please don’t ffs.
