Another how long are test results taking...

DS has a cold, but has been followed by quite a persistent cough so took him for PCR test today around midday.

Just wondered how long recent tests had been taking to come back...

Also wondering how long isolation for coughs will persist for.. Seems that a fair few school parents are already disregarding the need for at least a PCR test. I know DS is not the only one in his class with this cough yet others seem to think a LFT is sufficient...

At my daughter's school you have to test for just a runny nose on it's on implement
which I think is way ott considering how low the death rate is
And they do actually implement

jupitermars1345 · 11/05/2021 17:56

That as well

jupitermars1345 · 11/05/2021 17:56

They also wouldn't accept just a negative lft for a runny nose.

We tested my daughter at 9am and results were back 5am the next day. I'm also wondering how long we are going to have to keep testing.

Houseofvelour · 11/05/2021 17:57

I had my PCR test at 11am and had the result at 4am the next morning

annlee3817 · 11/05/2021 22:27

I posted a PCR test yesterday at 5pm and got the results at 1.30pm today

Alfaix · 12/05/2021 06:12

Less than 24 hours at the moment.

rainbowfairydust · 12/05/2021 06:38

Did ours 9am yesterday and back at 340am, negative with a cold/instant cough on day 2 of cold... Still colds doing the rounds with coughs

lashebt · 12/05/2021 06:42

My most recent one was just under 24 hours to come back.

whataballbag · 12/05/2021 08:44

Most recent was about 14 hours.

Fastest I've ever had was 6! Very impressive

Persipan · 12/05/2021 09:03

My baby had one done at 10am on Saturday and I had the results by about 7am Sunday.

Woulditbeworth · 12/05/2021 19:26

East Sussex, 34 hours and counting...

jupitermars1345 · 12/05/2021 19:39

West Sussex here
Had at 12pm yesterday. Still waiting.
Walk in test center

Woulditbeworth · 12/05/2021 21:47

@Woulditbeworth

East Sussex, 34 hours and counting...
Negative - 36 hrs in the end.
Silversun83 · 12/05/2021 21:56

Thanks everyone - negative here too.

Both myself and DS had them done, just before midday. I got my results 7am this morning and DS 9am. So 19 hours and 21 hours.

Definitely an improvement - last two times it had been 28 hours.

It's about 24h here. I test twice a week with LFT anyway but I've had a cold, had a PCR when I got a terrible cough with it. Negative! There is a nasty old bug flying about at the moment that's a cold with bad cough and for once it seems it's not COVID!

I got it from DD who is in Reception and over half her class have been off being tested the last ten days main symptom being a cough. All negative.
