Vaccines at Ethiad Stadium

Blondiney · 11/05/2021 15:57

Has anyone had their vaccine at the Ethiad Stadium? If so, were you offered anything other than AZ?

It’s classed as a ‘mass vaccine centre’ so surely they have more than one effing type of vaccine!

I swear when this is all over I am never going to type the word ‘vaccine’ again!

No but I have volunteered there occasionally. In recent weeks they have had moderna and AZ. Never (to my knowledge) a choice.

casper2017 · 11/05/2021 21:36

I was there on Monday, they only had AZ and were turning away under 40s. Apparently this is against guidelines according to 119 so not sure if this is still the case

Wellbythebloodyhell · 11/05/2021 21:46

Mass vaccination centres can have a different vaccinations on different days, not usually multiple vaccines on one day and certainly not a choice.
If you are under 40 you should automatically be offered Pfizer or Moderna appointment days due to the recent change in guidance at the weekend

Blondiney · 12/05/2021 00:28

I'll cross it off the list, I'm 46 so it will be AZ or nothing. I'll take the nothing.

Thanks guys.

Not necessarily it will offer you dates that could potentially be offering any of the 3 available as apposed to just 2 if under 40, however it's pot luck you just won't know until the day what it is
MoveoverMatt · 12/05/2021 07:31

We went to a vaccination centre yesterday and were told the age limit will be lowered next week and we should be able to get Pfizer then. We're 39 and 40, so have rebooked and hoping that information is correct.

FredaFox · 12/05/2021 07:34

I’m 46 and had my first ages ago as I’m a career for my mum, there was no choice and I got az
My 2nd is in 2 weeks
I’m sure you just get given what they have and don’t get the option to pick and choose! You are 46 why be difficult Hmm

EducatingArti · 12/05/2021 07:37

A friend in her 40s had Moderns there a few weeks ago.

Difficult ? I'll be honest, I don't blame the op at all.

@BuggerBognor

Hi Karen Grin

I had Moderna at a mass vaccination centre a few weeks ago. I’m 45 and would have refused AZ. They seem to go a week at a time here with a particular vaccine - it doesn’t change on a daily basis so it’s worth checking with others in your area. Pfizer/Moderna seem to (1) given at hospitals and mass vaccine centres only and (2) make it really difficult to book a second appointment because of supply. Both clues when you’re booking!

Good luck Smile

Grin

The second dose thing is a really good tip. Thank you!

I thought the age lowering had already been implemented?

I know two people in their 40s who got moderna at the etihad a couple of weeks ago

SweatyBetty20 · 12/05/2021 09:23

I got Moderna at Etihad just after it was released for use and I’m 48. Went at nearly closing time - not sure if that’s anything to do with it.

noodle80 · 12/05/2021 10:02

I’ve just had Pfizer today at Alderley Park. I asked how log they were doing it for and they said three days (don’t know if that includes today) then back to AZ.

How was it, are you feeling okay so far?

Friend went to Etihad yesterday and got AZ. However some people were getting Moderna yesterday. People got different stickers when they were checked in depending on which vaccine.

There was a walk in Pfizer clinic at the Irish Centre in Cheetham yesterday. They ran out of doses but said they will be running another walk in Pfizer clinic there today from 4.30 - 7pm. It has been promoted on the council's social media.

noodle80 · 12/05/2021 10:54

So far so good, thanks! They make you wait 15 minutes afterwards to check you don’t react afterwards.

You must feel so relieved. It's done and you can forget about it for a few months. With AZ I'd be worrying for literally weeks.

@HipHopBanzai Thank you so much! Flowers

Another poster mentioned a walk in at a rugby club in Preston today but Cheetham is much easier logistically. So grateful to have options at last.

OP posts:
HipHopBanzai · 12/05/2021 11:26

I would get there early @Blondiney as they ran out of walk in vaccinations yesterday. It was open to over 30s.

I've copied and posted the tweet from the Council's facebook page:

🚨 UPDATE 5pm on 11 May 🚨
There are now no more vaccines available at this clinic today due to high demand. But the clinic will be open again tomorrow (Wednesday 12 May) from 4pm-7:30pm for walk in appointments.

HipHopBanzai · 12/05/2021 15:28

The council has just tweeted to say that the Pfizer walk in clinic this afternoon is now appointment only because of extremely high demand. Just trying to save you a wasted journey!

Blondiney · 12/05/2021 17:03

@HipHopBanzai You're very kind, thank you.

People were queuing from early afternoon according to twitter, they must be furious! I couldn't face all the people so chickened out. I often joke about being a hermit but there's probably more truth in it than I care to imagine.

OP posts:
HipHopBanzai · 12/05/2021 17:12

@Blondiney that sounds like chaos!
A school mum had an appointment at Etihad today and had Moderna.
She didn't know how people were being assigned a vaccine though as there was a queue for AZ and one for Moderna.
