Where to try for Pfizer/Moderna?

Its for my sister who is has just turned 40. She is worried about blood clots (many in our family are prone to clots) and so she'd like to get Pfizer/Moderna if possible. Where in SE London/Kent/Anywhere nearby is she likely to get one or the other?

They were giving out Pfizer at Saga in Thanet yesterday.

If there's a family history of clots doesn't it make sense for her to speak to her GP?

Guys Centre and Islington also seem to be good options.

I am 39 and I've just today had my first dose of Moderna at Guys Hospital.

Cheesecake53 · 11/05/2021 11:56

@CheesePleaseLoueese may I ask, was that at Guy's vaccination centre 1 or 2?

Vac centre 1!

Cheesecake53 · 11/05/2021 12:01

Thanks! That is where I am booked in later this week, too :)

I think I read on a different thread that neither Guys 1 or 2 are giving AZ at the moment (one of them is Pfizer and the other is Moderna). How long that will be the case, I don't know.

This is the Guys thread, @User556677

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4234952-Moderna-guys-centre-1

I booked my Monday appointment on Saturday and both Guys 1 (Moderna ATM) and Guys 2 (Pfizer ATM) had lots of first appointments every day this week so your DS could check to see what people on here have been given then book for the next day. It seems to be consistently Moderna or Pfizer at Guys 1.

Some info on moderna vaccine side effects. For some with allergies AZ might be better... at least we are lucky yo have a choice.

Islington Business Design Centre are doing Moderna.

foobio · 11/05/2021 18:45

Don't know which vaccine so may not be helpful, but Croydon University Hospital are doing walk ins this week for over 40's first doses. swlondonccg.nhs.uk/news/this-week-get-your-1st-covid-19-vaccination-at-croydon-university-hospital/

If you are worried about family history of clots, I understand that the CSVT is a different sort of clot caused by a reaction so there’s no increased risk whichever vaccine is given. Same if you have low/high platelets. In any case the vaccinator will always ask questions beforehand or you can.
