Is anyone else eligible and been invited but not able to find an available appointment they can reasonably get to? It’s so frustrating. I’m really unsure how often I should be checking back to see what changes in availability.

Sunny360 · 14/05/2021 16:51

@OhWifey the man at the check in just said I was having Pfizer today so I’m assuming it was only that although I didn’t ask if they had any others.

It took me over a week from becoming eligible to actually find a suitable appointment. I was checking the website hourly, sometimes more often, throughout the day. From my personal e patience it was about 9pm on a Wednesday when a load of new centres appeared and I was able to book one that suited.
HairyFloppins · 14/05/2021 17:57

Just had my vaccine at a local GP surgery, very busy and organised and it was Pfizer.

LittleRen · 14/05/2021 18:47

Super excited. I spoke with my gp about a few concerns - booked in for Sunday! 36 but wasn’t able to do anything on NHS site. I am so relieved with the Indian variant and being asthmatic.

MapleBee · 14/05/2021 20:46

When do we think over 35s will be able to book now, with the Indian variant delay. End of May?

Not sure - hopefully the booking will still open for over 35s next week. I'm 36 and feel like I've missed the window now with the move to speed up second vaccinations to over 50s. So many of my friends (35,36) have had texts from GP in the last week and we've not heard a peep here (Bucks but very close to Slough where numbers of the Indian variant seem to be on the increase)
smogsville · 14/05/2021 23:37

@CaveMum it might depend on what feels reasonable to you. My nearest available for second dose was 11 miles away as the crow flies so I chose the second closest (guys) as easier to get there on the tube. It's just under an hour door to door so I'll make a day of it as it's a Saturday and we'll all go for a lunch/ meet some friends on the Southbank. It definitely wouldn't be convenient within the confines of a normal working/ school run day. I could have waited for something more local to me but on balance I just want it booked in and done.

Cheshiresun · 15/05/2021 02:05

DP had Moderna today (37; 38 next month). Same as myself, I had Moderna a few weeks ago (over 40).

Derbee · 15/05/2021 02:13

My reaction to Pfizer was a tender arm, and feeling slightly sluggish. Now totally back to normal, and had my jab on 13th at 11am.

RAINSh0wers · 15/05/2021 07:55

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I’m the same, 36 and feel a little like it’s stalled just within reach. But most of my friend who are in the next county have had theirs at 35/36/37 so I’m a little frustrated. I just want it done now!

BillStickersIsInnocent · 15/05/2021 08:06

42 and had Pfizer yesterday in Bristol at a big vaccination centre.

Sore arm and a bit headachey but nothing major.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 15/05/2021 11:33

Just doing my 15 minutes sitting after my Pfizer. Really quick experience. Thank you NHS!

My husband (over 40) was trying for a week as we don’t drive and none were within 20-30 miles of us. Then the doctor’s surgery phoned to query as he hasn’t booked an appointment, he explained and they got him one local a few days later. All done over the phone.

I’m under 40 and the surgery phoned me 3 days later and said they were making a head start on appointments and I could book mine. I managed to boom mine with my husband. We had ours yesterday. Oddly enough when we went online to try and book out of curiosity the only appointments being offered were miles away still.

Eccle80 · 15/05/2021 12:52

@MapleBee I don’t think the bringing forward second doses should affect offering 35+ their first, most of those in the second dose group would have had AZ which now isn’t being used for under 40s, and the limiting factor has been supplies rather than capacity.

I really hope it is soon for you, I know a few 35+ who have appointments through GPs this week, and our local vaccine centre has been promoting that it has lots of capacity this weekend so I am sure they must open up nationally below 38 soon

RC000 · 15/05/2021 13:01

@eccle80 I hope so!

NotBot · 15/05/2021 13:27

33 here & my OH & I have just had Pfizer at a local pharmacy 🙌🏼 Seems to be a random drop, I saw on Facebook they’d had a large delivery of Pfizer & were opening up to 33+.. quickly text all my mates & younger family! We’ve all been down today. A big relief really..

It blooming hurt, I was surprised. The nurse really pinched my skin & (minimal) arm fat upwards (I’m pretty skinny) and it was so sore 🙈 obviously, I’ve since read that this was completely the wrong technique 😩😂 but I’m sure it’s fine!

32, pregnant and impatiently waiting!

I'm finding it really frustrating that there seems to be no priority for pregnant ladies even though the chances of getting really poorly with Covid are higher in pregnancy and as far as I am aware the advise is still to shield from 28 weeks pregnant. It's really worrying, especially with all the Indian variant talk at the moment.

My hubby, different GP but same age with no underlying health issues, has just been offered his. It seems to be a total lottery!

Goatsdorhone · 15/05/2021 13:54

My DH (38) has just had moderna at Guys Vacc Centre 1 this afternoon
I'm still (im)patiently waiting (36)

mightyducks · 15/05/2021 15:08

Anyone with a Bolton GP practice can get their first does today on the bus at Essa academy, they have 4000 vaccines to use today!

I'm in exactly the same position. Baby due in 3 weeks and I'm having a c section so the added worry of having surgery etc. I spoke with my GP surgery recently about vaccine and they've been strict in saying I'll just have to wait until 32s are called. It's quite stressful with everything opening up from Monday too.
123banana · 15/05/2021 15:18

36 year old in London here. Got a text on Wednesday asking me to book. Went onto the website and there were loads of slots. Booked in and had the jab (Pfizer) yesterday afternoon!

I have heard that although officially it’s 38+ only, if you are younger they will “find a reason to vaccinate you”. Good for them.
springhasalmostsprung · 15/05/2021 15:42

Hello! Can I join you? 35 and this last week I've gotten very impatient.
Not helped by the fact that I know of two people younger than me (34 and 30) who have managed to book theirs seemingly because they're at the GP who is running the vaccine hub rather than one of the other surgeries being done there Angry

Tinks177 · 15/05/2021 16:02

It's really frustrating isn't it. My GP is exactly the same, telling me I'll have to wait for my age group. I'm pretty relaxed about things normally and if I wasn't pregnant I would have happily waited my turn but this is really angering me. I feel like we're the last clinically vulnerable group not to be vaccinated and I don't understand how we're not getting any priority despite the risks.

I really hope you manage to get yours ASAP!
