When/How long after? - Side effects Pfizer

Trying to book 1st vaccine and due to age it will be Pfizer. I was wondering for those who got side effects how long after the vaccine did the side effects start and how long did they last?
Trying to time it incase I do get side effects that I've nothing else to be doing in the window of side effects!

I had no side effects with the first jab, not even a sore arm.
Recently had the second dose (4 days ago) and I've had a few side effects this time;
Pain at injection site, hot and cold sweats, headache, nausea all the day after and generally feeling unwell.
Still have a sore arm if prodded and swollen lymph nodes in the armpit.

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/05/2021 22:05

First jab, only had a weird sensation in my arm that evening, like a dead arm.

2nd jab only side effects were sore arm again, and feeling very cold & a bit tired.

jumpbounce · 08/05/2021 22:06

I've heard that from a few people who have had Pfizer that it tends to be more on the 2nd with the side effects. Most of my friends have had AZ and felt terrible about 12 hours after the vaccine symptoms started and lasted for less than a day really.
I want to be prepared if there is a chance I might feel awful for a day or 2 afterwards!
Hope your sore arm improves soon!

Had 2 Pfizer jabs
Just tiredness really
First one arm really hurt about 6 hours later
Had a bad headache both times
Still ok to go to work

Yika · 08/05/2021 22:08

I've had the first Pfizer and no real side effects: just a slightly sore arm and swollen armpit (nothing really noticeable unless I thought about it).

jumpbounce · 08/05/2021 22:10

Brilliant! This is sounding more positive than I expected! Now if I could just get a slot....

1st dose: very sore arm from 6 hours after jab, lasted 24 hours. Also had headache and brain fog for the next two days which paracetamol greatly helped

2nd dose: sore arm as above, swollen lymph nodes and very painful armpit on injection side for about three days afterwards

My mother inlaw got no side effects at all from Pfizer

It does seem to hit younger people more though

Most experts are saying 1st Pfizer is ok but 2nd can be bad. The other way around with AZ. Moderna is who knows but similar side effects to the others.

KillerFlamingo · 08/05/2021 22:29

I had Pfizer at 38 and DH at 42 and the only effects we had were a bit of a sore arm, just like the flu jab. Currently awaiting the 2nd jab but everyone I've spoken to says it's fine. I'm not worried, bring it on!

TruelyWonder · 08/05/2021 22:53

Remember they have surveyed and only 1 in 4 people get any side effects at all

Out of those people a sore arm and/or headache are the most reported

ChangeTheWayYouLookAtThings · 08/05/2021 23:01

No side effects & I have had both.
Just a sore arm.

Hopefully I'm in the 3 but given I've twice had a medical emergency that is 1 in 1.5million...I won't hold out much hope, because that's my luck Grin
I don't mind a few side effects it's more being prepared with young DC one of them with medical needs and various upcoming appointments that I need to be firing on all cylinders or plan around a time that DH can take over. It's looking likely that even if I do get side effects it won't impact on day to day life. I know a few people with the AZ who have been in bed for a day feeling really rough.

Mid 40's.
One Pizfer, one Moderna.

First jab sore arm, Moderna a bit tired.

Second Jab. Both had sore arms, high temps and felt achey and flu like for a day and a half.

Glad it is all done.

They obviously don't have kids to look after or a very helpful husband at home then 😂

I will keep my fingers crossed you are a 3 not a 1❤

A day of resting in bed sounds quite appealing to be fair Grin

1st Pfizer was a bit tired for a couple of days and a really painful arm for a few days.
2nd Pfizer (2 days ago), arm isn't as bad but still tender, swollen armpit (making it painful to sleep in most positions), mild headaches and a bit nauseous. Nothing to stop me working or looking after the kids.

lakesidelife · 08/05/2021 23:12

I went to bed and left DH and dc too it.
They were most put out!!!
