Has anyone got results back yet from their antibody test? We did ours a month ago and still no news

I do VirusWatch antibody tests and always get them back after 5 working days. A friend does ONS, (is that the one you get paid for?) ones and they are more erratic

My ons anti body test was an at home job like a finger prick and put on the test strip.

slalomsuki · 08/05/2021 14:08

Mine took 2.5 months to come back to me. Did it in January and got it back mid April

I did one of those last October but I think they have changed now. It's still a finger prick but you have to fill a little test tube and send it off.

Virus watch asked me to do it, so I signed up but I've never received anything since!
Boph · 08/05/2021 15:28

@whataballbag I started doing them in Feb. It's reassuring to know I developed antibodies after the vaccine. They said it would be until August at least.

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 08/05/2021 18:45

My first one took about two weeks. Haven’t heard for second one yet.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/05/2021 18:47

DH and I both do this. Swab results are around 10 days, antibodies around two weeks post test.

Having said that, I got nothing back from my last antibody test and when I queried it got several different answers, several of which could not be true.
I think the lab dropped the blood sample.

2021ismyyear · 08/05/2021 19:48

2 weeks for my blood test results. Did the finger prick this week and filled the tube up so quickly! Within 3 minutes. Last month it took forever to milk my finger. Grin

babychange12 · 09/05/2021 16:04

Mines been at least a month and still haven't heard back 😬 not keen to do it again as it took ages to get that 16 drops of blood 😭

Same here first time but it was much better the second time as I got properly warmed up.

Ginfizzlife · 10/05/2021 06:26

Took just over two weeks for my results, it was very reassuring to know I’d antibodies after the first vaccine.
I’ve really struggled in the past with these finger prick tests but this time I put my hands in a bowl of hot water for a good few minutes. Definitely helped, I could’ve filled several vials! 😂

Sebw · 10/05/2021 06:32

It was like Stephen King's Carrie in our house trying to fill those little bottles for the first time. ConfusedGrin

Took two weeks for our results

Igmum · 10/05/2021 06:38

I did one for UK Biobank in April. It was the finger prick/ instant results one

Weirdly after we discussed this yesterday they got in touch yesterday and will send the stuff out within 2 weeks.

How do you get your results?

Boph · 10/05/2021 15:08

I get an email about 5 to 7 days after posting.
It gives two results, positive or negative for N and S antibodies.
N are from covid infection and S are from vaccine.

Boph · 10/05/2021 15:09

Incidentally I was negative for all antibodies after the first test which was done 6 weeks after my first dose of vaccine. Positive after ten weeks though.

whataballbag · 10/05/2021 16:20

Cool, thanks @Boph - I'm 10 weeks post first dose now so fingers crossed

FuzzyPuffling · 10/05/2021 16:44

I get a letter in the post. (ONS)

babychange12 · 10/05/2021 19:11

Thank you for the advice on warming hands up as I did that this time round and it's much easier. Only needed to prick one finger.

I have to say I really don't enjoy doing these and might stop them. I find them quite invasive Sad

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm hoping some of you are still on here. I've been taking part in the ons study and following my second vaccine in May I've tested positive for antibodies until my last test on 30th August - it's now negative for antibodies. I know it could embe an anomaly so I'm keen to see what the next one is, but I wondered if this is happening with others?

I have had an issue with my immune system in the past so that could be relevant.
