Second dose Moderna

Hi everyone. Bit of a niche question but can't find the answer to it and know lots of people on here have greater knowledge than me!
Had first dose of Moderna 3 weeks ago, in the first few days of it being available in England (am mid 40's). As far as I know, we are still expecting to have the same vaccine for second dose (booked for early July), but with the change in guidance for under 40's, am starting to worry that there won't be enough supply for that and it will be diverted to younger age groups!
Does anyone have a view on this yet?
Thanks in advance!

At the moment, they have to give the same first and second dose. They haven't finished testing combinations. In fact I'm not sure how far they have got with it. Don't worry.

Thanks,Sonnet, for your reply - I appreciate it. Especially the 'don't worry' bit - it seems this year has really battered my ability to keep anxiety in check and I can worry about all sorts of things! Thanks again - I will keep an eye out for reports on those trials and trust that they have reserved enough second doses for everyone.

Thanks for asking this, I too had Moderna at Madejski a little over 3 weeks ago, and have been hoping they have earmarked enough for the second doses!

I am inclined to continue to assume that they have earmarked the second doses, but everything is (understandably) fluid at the moment, I can equally see it changing. I suppose we will have to hold on a bit longer to see.

I had Moderna too and am just assuming they would allow for second doses, didn’t occur to me to think differently. Was wondering if we’d hear about an extra order they’d secured though given they will need to cover all under 40s.

Everyone in the UK is having the same vaccine for 1st and 2nd doses. The only exception would be if you had a severe adverse reaction or allergy to your first jab. The second doses are all accounted for when you have your first.

Ah, thanks both. That is reassuring - thanks for giving my head a wobble! I'll put this worry to bed and move on to the next one!
