Long term headache after AZ

bleughheadache · 06/05/2021 20:17

Has anyone else had long term headache after AZ ?

I have had one for 5 weeks. I have spoken to GP who have not been that helpful but have another appointment next week. It stated four hours after the vaccine and has stayed pretty much the same ever since.

I'm on day 14 of low level headache 😩

MarjorieBouvier · 06/05/2021 20:30

Yes, I put it down to stress but this was before the clotting scare. I'm having my 2nd dose tomorrow and it has faded mostly now. But I've restocked paracetamol supplies just in case!

bleughheadache · 06/05/2021 20:35

It is very tiring! @MarjorieBouvier did your headache last up until your 2nd vaccine?

Kitcat122 I hope yours shifts soon

Drs seem to think that as mine started so soon after the vaccine and has not really changed and no other symptons it is not blood clot issues.

Yes. 2nd dose tomorrow. Headache hasn't 100% gone from the first dose, but has faded a lot. Very mild now.

bleughheadache · 06/05/2021 20:53

@MajorieBouvier you poor thing. Hope it goes ok tomorrow

Yes, had the initial hit by a brick feeling for a day or so after the jab. This dissipated like it does with most but then a headache gradually returned 3-4 weeks after the jab. This became moderate at times and quite distinct in nature, stabbing at various sites, localised pain in a specific area of the head for 9 days. Had full blood count (normal), headache still there, with tenderness on scalp in specific area of localised pain, bloods took again at A&E, testing for inflammation as a result of the tenderness, again all in range. Back to GP who is now doing bloods looking for signs of clotting & referring me for a head CT scan. I’m not having the second AZ jab as no previous history of persistent headache & no other lifestyle variables during this period.

bleughheadache · 06/05/2021 21:51

I hope to be referred from my next appointment as this is worrying me and becoming very boring!

Hope things work out for you@MummyPop00. Mine started straight away so odd how we are all so different with symptons.

Oh gosh, me too! Well, it's been a week, I hope it's not turning into a long term thing!
Had my second vaccine last Friday, developed a headache Saturday night and have had it on and off ever since. This morning I woke up rested, thinking it was gone, but as soon as I got up it was back Sad
The thing is, I can still do stuff like the school run, household chores..
Went to a walk-in centre on Tuesday and the doctor checked me over quite thoroughly and couldn't find anything concerning.
Might go to A&E tomorrow to get bloods done, unfortunately the walk-in centre couldn't do blood tests..
Had no issues after my first jab, just the usual flu the next day and then fine.

bleughheadache · 06/05/2021 22:05

I find the more I do the worse it is. So worse in the evenings but every morning I still wake up thinking it will be gone and then am disappointed when it hasnt!

Hopefully @Puffthemagicdragongoestobed it will go soon

Have you reported these through the yellow card symptom?

Hairyhat · 07/05/2021 01:18

Yes me

TruelyWonder · 07/05/2021 03:40

Goodness you lot sound like you been though it. Good thing you didn't get one of the other vaccines. Some of these side effects sound even worse.

Yep yellow carded but wish that got rid of the headache for me!

@Trulywonder it is the length of time it is hanging around that is becoming waring. My luck is that they offer me a different vaccind for the second one and then I get some random extreme rare side effect from that one too that drags on for weeks. But will still go for it though Good job I was not used in the testing stages!

CosmoMint · 07/05/2021 09:27

Yes I have a headache. It was constant for nearly four days though. But since then it comes and goes randomly nearly every day since the vaccine. It’s like a head twinge for less than a minute every day and happens randomly throughout the day. It’s now day 16 for me. Does this ever go away? My doctor wasn’t worried at all when I called a week ago.

It’s comforting to know I am not the only one suffering this but am a bit worried and really wish it would go away.

Bramshott · 07/05/2021 09:32

You see, I would think I had this, as I've had a sinus headache pretty much since my vaccine 9 weeks ago. The only thing is that DH has had it too and he had the headache for several weeks before his vaccine! So in our case it's definitely not connected, but if it had been only me I'd be absolutely convinced it was... I think with all the stuff in the press it's very easy to ascribe things to the vaccine which you would have had anyway.

If you and your DH both got a headache at the same time then you urgently need to get a carbon monoxide check done in your home. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
bleughheadache · 07/05/2021 10:31

Smile I was lucky to ge this far without people accusing me of making it up or it not being connected @Bramshott. You might be right Bramshott but as a non headachey person this is a first for me. Hence also very unscientifically asking for ancedotal experiences from others.

It is a bit of a coincidence that 6 hours after the vaccine the headache started and has not gone since, yes it may be coincidence but looking more likely to be a vaccine side affect as confirmed by the Drs so far. Apparently a 5 week headache is very unusual according to them.

@bleughheadache how are you feeling now? I have a headache for nearly a month now. It's not severe but extremely annoying and I've never had anything like it before. GP is not much help.

bleughheadache · 24/05/2021 16:08

@Dani02 I have still got the headache 8 weeks on. I think it is a bit less intense and sometimes it drops off for a bit. The heavy pressure feeling is generally better than it was.

I had a blood test last week and an appointment with the Dr this week. I have had telephone consults but he wants to see me face to face. I have not had blood test results but guess they would have contacted me if worrying.

It is getting quite tiring tbh.

Hope yours goes soon.

I had my first vaccine felt fine had my 2nd on the 15th and feel totally wiped out..and headaches its sounds like alot of people are suffering with it..I was supposed because I didnt feel anything from thr first shot and I had covid in December

bristolone · 06/07/2021 20:36

Anyone gone on to have a second jab after long term headaches.

I've had my headaches since two weeks post vaccine and I'm 9 weeks.

Due to have head scan, all being well will have second jab. Just worried second jab will bring worse side effects.

Anyone had their second jab after long term headaches? What was the outcome?

DaniO2 · 06/07/2021 20:58

I had my second on 17th June. The headache is still there, but I think it's getting better really slowly. It didn't seem to get worse after the second dose. Fingers crossed it keeps improving. I hope your scan goes well @bristolone.

Any improvement with yours @bleughheadache?

ThatsnotMyNameAgain · 06/07/2021 21:33

5.5 weeks of headache and tinnitus after AZ...
very unsure about 2nd jab Sad

toolazytothinkofausername · 06/07/2021 21:40

I used to get headaches once every 2-3 months.

Since having the AZ vaccines I get a headache at least once a week :(

Senso21 · 06/07/2021 21:58

I had constant dizziness and headaches after my first AZ dose for 10 weeks - GP assessed me 3 times!
Finally went, and didn’t get this after second dose!
