Breaking news. Number of people post vaccine hospitalisation & deaths

Emma2021 · 04/05/2021 10:33

Good morning

Good details in reports re the number of people that went into hospital follwing their first jab at less than 3 weeks post jab and 21 days post jabs and deaths.
Does not say if AS or pifzer or both.

Study is limited and further research is required.
The bottom line is, even after getting your jabs, social distancing is important as most will be aware here.

It's a worrying read but don't forget this is a limited study and further, detailed research is required and most that ended up in hospital post jab are described as previously being "frail."

So, please don't forget social distancing.
Get you jabs imo and SD.

@MorrisZapp

SD is going to be over by mid summer, sorry.
Some people are going to find this very, very difficult to accept and live with. Some people think that SD should last forever and if you disagree, you're a heartless covid denying granny murderer.
Spectrumofhumanlife · 04/05/2021 13:24

social distancing should be a courtesy

Yes, in terms of not breathing down peoples necks in supermarkets for example. I’ve always tried to stay a distance from other people, I don’t much fancy getting to close to random strangers anyway. I have a strong sense of smell and often people have poor personal hygiene.
But in terms of everything else... so many venues will have to close down if social distancing remains in place. Businesses can’t operate at reduced capacity indefinitely. And how long will you be half to not touch/hug/sit close to your friends and family for?

Spectrumofhumanlife · 04/05/2021 13:25

*happy, not half

@LeSquigh

I don’t disbelieve this, and yes social distancing remains important. Clearly the vaccine has had a huge effect however there have been a number of people in my workplace who have had both vaccines and have been very ill with COVID, all young, some have had to receive oxygen in hospital so clearly there is still a huge risk out there.
There are young people you work with, who despite receiving both doses of a vaccine have been so ill they have needed to be admitted to hospital to receive oxygen?
JemimaPyjamas · 04/05/2021 13:31

What a silly OP.

The Express is notorious for this kind of thing and, like a previous poster said, the real story is not worrying in the least.

I want to live my life properly, and I say that as someone who is classed as clinically vulnerable, rather than this neurotic half life that some seem to be so determined to stick to.

JemimaPyjamas · 04/05/2021 13:32

Yes, @LeSquigh, I am also interested to hear about all these young, fully vaccinated, but seriously ill people...?

Several young people in one workplace who have had both covid vaccines? And subsequently been hospitalised with covid?

Given the figures this ridiculous DE piece links to (and all other statistics relating to vaccines and subsequent serious illness) that's incredibly unusual and unlucky. There's a one in several thousand chance of this outcome, so to have it happen to several people in one place is astonishing.

RedcurrantPuff · 04/05/2021 13:33

It’s not even remotely “worrying”.

That seems extremely unusual for a single workplace, far less one with fully vaccinated staff. Are you not practising SD there?

That’s interesting, I saw some figures that said only a very small number of people had been hospitalised with Covid after both vaccines and they were all in the older age groups. To have multiple young people from one workplace hospitalised with Covid after both vaccines is something that needs investigation as it must be a vanishingly rare occurrence.

ExConstance · 04/05/2021 13:57

I for one will be ditching my mask and giving ip social distancing on 21 June. Once everyone over 18 has been offered the vaccine life has to return to normal. Every year the vulnerable and older people are offered flu vaccination, asking people to wear masks to stop flu spreading is utterly ridiculous.

TheVampiresWife · 04/05/2021 14:03

What we're all thinking but too polite to say Grin

LeSquigh · 04/05/2021 14:06

@Spectrumofhumanlife yes. Most under 40, a couple just over. We have all been vaccinated twice as we were called to use up left over vaccines from day one (emergency services). We had an outbreak a few weeks ago. Most had just had second jab so that may have not been completely effective when it happened but we have all been very surprised at how ill they have all been, and yes a couple have had to attend hospital for oxygen. It’s been quite scary going to work despite the fact that I already had it late last year.

@MadgeMak I couldn’t care less if you don’t believe me, the same as I couldn’t care less when right at the beginning of the vaccine program I started a thread about how bad the side effects had been but then thousands of others ended up backing up my story. I can’t prove it without giving the fine details of my workplace and how the outbreak happened, and posting their personal details but it has happened, and it’s been really scary for all of us that have had contact with those affected. Our COVID procedures have been shit hot too which makes it all the more concerning. It spread like wildfire after mostly avoiding it bar myself and a couple of other mild cases late last year but it’s been horrifying hearing how sick my colleagues/friends have been.

TimeForLunch · 04/05/2021 14:07

I fully support those who wish to to carry on SD and mask wearing for as long as they see fit. I, and most others I believe, will be enjoying life as normal!

How many young people at your workplace have had both vaccines and still been very ill with Covid?
LeSquigh · 04/05/2021 14:09

I have wanted to get out of this as much as the next person and it really feels like we are on the way out but to have this happen at work was a stark reminder of how serious it can be (and I’ve not known anyone prior to this who has been really ill with it) and how we probably still need to be cautious.

ivykaty44 · 04/05/2021 14:11

@Motorina thanks for putting the study up rather than the MSM article trying to project sensational news

LeSquigh · 04/05/2021 14:12

@BlueBlancmange my department is quite small, a total of about 30 people. We had 7 cases, two of those were over 40 but the rest under, all had had two vaccines (although had only just had their second one) bar one who had had neither vaccine and I think one who had just had one.

No one was admitted as such but two were given oxygen (and one also antibiotics, not sure why) in A&E.

And all 7 were very ill? It just seems that that would be quite unfortunate for unvaccinated people, let alone youngish, fully vaccinated people.

upsydaisyssinging · 04/05/2021 14:17

About 500 out of 35,000,000 is such a tiny fraction; 0.0015%. I don't think we have to worry too much. This is just poor reporting.

Bordois · 04/05/2021 14:18

Is "i know loads of vaccinated people who still got covid and ended up in hospital" the new "I know loads of mid 30 marathon runners in ICU with covid"?

LeSquigh · 04/05/2021 14:22

@BlueBlancmange yes it is, and it’s very worrying. I have been working a huge amount of overtime to cover the absences with the constant worry that I’m going to catch it again, it’s exhausting. All of them (and they are mostly recovered from the worst now) have been very unwell. It’s been horrendous. We are doing LFT daily but they don’t seem to be picking up a positive result until there is very obvious symptoms. We have had three deep cleans and we cannot close.

Bordois · 04/05/2021 14:26

You must work in a very unlucky department! Every single on of your colleagues had really bad side effects from their vaccinations and now almost a quarter of them have caught covid anyway 😲

Ummmm porky 🥧s.....

A number of people in one workplace that are young, have gad both vaccines and yet have been 'very ill with covid and needing hospital treatment.... wow please inform the medics and government etc who appear to be unaware of these in any reports etc....
