Breaking news. Number of people post vaccine hospitalisation & deaths

Emma2021 · 04/05/2021 10:33

Good morning

Good details in reports re the number of people that went into hospital follwing their first jab at less than 3 weeks post jab and 21 days post jabs and deaths.
Does not say if AS or pifzer or both.

Study is limited and further research is required.
The bottom line is, even after getting your jabs, social distancing is important as most will be aware here.

It's a worrying read but don't forget this is a limited study and further, detailed research is required and most that ended up in hospital post jab are described as previously being "frail."

So, please don't forget social distancing.
Get you jabs imo and SD.

Where did i say i thought everyone would do that. You know i did not say that so don't misquote me.

You said in your opinion people should wear masks and distance even after 2nd vaccine. I said you are delusional if you think people will do that

No mis quoting happening there. I actually copied your exact post and responded to that

Mmn654123 · 04/05/2021 12:15

You think someone guaranteed you 100% that if you have a vaccine you won’t die of covid?

Who is this mythical person?

Did you discuss this belief with the clinician who assessed you when you had your vaccine?

MorrisZapp · 04/05/2021 12:18

SD is going to be over by mid summer, sorry.

@PurplePumpkinDream

I agree with Emma. I think we need to be cautious for a while yet, give it a chance, I’ll be anyway.
Same.

I can't believe the increase of the mentality of "It's only old and ill people who suffer. Who cares?" It's disgusting

I said it was a mentality, not a quote.

Heavily suggested by those who say "oh we need to live with it now. Most people are at next to zero risk".

GiveMeTulipsfromAmsterdam · 04/05/2021 12:43

It's not a 'worrying read' at all @Emma2021

Have a Biscuit

minniemomo · 04/05/2021 12:44

Actually this is very good news, so few people and most are likely to have been infected prior to vaccination or antibodies developing. It looks like there's a very small failure rate, mostly in people likely to have compromised immune systems eg very elderly.

AintPageantMaterial · 04/05/2021 12:57

YOU posted the Express article. YOU said it is a worrying read. My point to you was intended to explain that it is only a worrying read because it is a wilful misrepresentation of a full report and the full report is NOT worrying.

And then you reply to my point by telling me that you think the Guardian is the most accurate newspaper. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jaxhog · 04/05/2021 12:59

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady

IMO, people still should social distance even after the second jab and wear face masks inside, ie confined areas like shops etc and this will not just save us from covid but the flu as well to a great extent

And in my opinion you are delusional if you think anyone is going to do that

Well, I will be! And so will many people I know. In any case, my wearing a mask doesn't impact you, and social distancing should be a courtesy.
TheVampiresWife · 04/05/2021 13:03

@DumplingsAndStew but we do need to learn to live with it. Covid is endemic and there will, incredibly sadly, always be covid deaths every year going forward. And just as flu is most likely to be fatal for those who are old and/or vulnerable, so it will be with covid.

Zero covid will never happen. Anybody dismissing those who die from covid as 'only the old and frail' is obviously an insensitive cock. But until a year and a half ago tens of thousands of vulnerable people died from flu every year, too, and nobody seemed too concerned about that.

We need to live alongside covid and accept, however unpalatable a thought it may be, that it's another endemic illness which proves fatal for a small minority, even with incredibly successful vaccines which prevent serious illness in the vast majority of cases.

We do need to get on with it.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 04/05/2021 13:05

You do you. Don't start threads telling other people what to do.

TheVampiresWife · 04/05/2021 13:06

@Jaxhog social distancing means that many cultural venues won't be able to run profitably so will close permanently. Ditto pubs, restaurants, theatres, music venues. It means more expensive travel and less of it. It means no hugging friends or family.

It's not a 'courtesy', it's a death knell if allowed to carry on indefinitely.

4PawsGood · 04/05/2021 13:07

I don’t think you’re right with “Like most vaccines, it does not stop you from getting the virus but the impact is less severe.”

The original testing was just on mortality and morbidity, but since it’s been rolled out the studies on transmission show that it is affecting this too. Ie it is stopping people from catching it.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 04/05/2021 13:08

"Unnecessary baiting"

Really? It's a biscuit. Quick, tell teacher.

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/05/2021 13:18

Ok. I stand corrected. Some people will do that. You do you.

But for how.long? Once you've had both vaccines and cases/deaths are low When will it stop. Do you intend to do social distancing forever?

I don't mean giving people personal space in a queue. I mean not hugging friends and family etc

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/05/2021 13:19
Biscuit
SaskiaRembrandt · 04/05/2021 13:20

I want 100% immunity but will accept something very, very close to that and hope all the sutdies/etc will make the vaccine and people more safer.

No vaccine offers 100% immunity, why do you expect Covid vaccines to be any different?

LeSquigh · 04/05/2021 13:21

I don’t disbelieve this, and yes social distancing remains important. Clearly the vaccine has had a huge effect however there have been a number of people in my workplace who have had both vaccines and have been very ill with COVID, all young, some have had to receive oxygen in hospital so clearly there is still a huge risk out there.
