A) Have you or a family member had a false negative? (my son has)

B) Have you have had a positive result?

C) If you have had a positive result was it clearly positive before the 30 mins it says to wait to read the result?

Mine was faint positive within a minute - got darker within 3 minutes - despite me shouting no repeatedly

Wellbythebloodyhell · 03/05/2021 16:21

Not had either so far 🤞 3 of us are doing them twice a week

wendz86 · 03/05/2021 16:23

Been doing them twice a week last few weeks and had no positives.

Angel2702 · 03/05/2021 16:29

Not had any positives. No idea if any false negatives as wouldn’t know it was false without symptoms and another test.

All those who tested positive at DS school last week had the positive lateral flow test confirmed as positive with pcr tests.

Scarby9 · 03/05/2021 16:32

All negatives so far.

Goodtohear · 03/05/2021 16:36

dancinfeet · 03/05/2021 16:42

All negative tests for me and my DD so far

Paddy1234 · 03/05/2021 16:43

dicdicnurse · 03/05/2021 16:43

Twice a week tests, all negative so far.

AnatomyJane · 03/05/2021 16:49

Done lots in the family, all negative. Seen lots done at work, positive ones showed up almost at once and just got darker as the time passed.

PrettyCherryBlossom · 03/05/2021 16:50

A) yes
B) yes
C) DS1 yes, very strong line within minutes. DS2 no, very faint line by 30 minutes, followed by positive pcr the same day

MrsOrMiss · 03/05/2021 16:50

As far as I'm aware, there is no such thing as a false positive.
I'm a Covid tester. Even a faint line is a positive. You only ignore if it's been more than 30 minutes since you dropped the fluid in the well.

DinosaurDiana · 03/05/2021 16:51

All negatives.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 03/05/2021 17:00

All negative for me and dd1

Mocha1978 · 03/05/2021 17:01

a) yes husband negative LF, positive PCR
b) yes son
c) line appeared very quickly, could see it appearing within a minute or so of the fluid flowing over the area.

JustMeAndWheatley · 03/05/2021 17:08

We’ve done umpteen here. All negative within seconds apart from one invalid test where nothing at all showed up.

DancesWithDaffodils · 03/05/2021 17:17

A false positive is when the test says positive, but pcr is negative. It is a thing. Nothing to do with how strong the line is.

No idea if we've had a false negative - but noone has been symptomatic since we started doing LFT.

Not had a single positive result in 2000 school LFT, so no idea how quickly the line would come up. Sorry.

MrsMariaReynolds · 03/05/2021 17:20

I personally haven't had a positive from any of mine but of those who I know that have, the result came up immediately.

I highly doubt the test is designed to change its mind at the very last minute leading up to the half hour. Negative or positive, the result is established pretty quickly during the testing process.

whatswithtodaytoday · 03/05/2021 17:25

My friend tested negative on the same day her husband tested positive - was positive for her the next day (and confirmed by PCR).

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 03/05/2021 17:26

All negatives, no false positives

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 03/05/2021 17:27

MIL had a strong positive showed up within 3 minutes, she had no symptoms and confirmed positive by PCR

BiggerBoat1 · 03/05/2021 17:31

My family have all been doing them twice a week for a while and had no positives. The result always looks very clear after a couple of minutes but I always wait half an hour before reporting.
