As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

BruceAndNosh · 28/05/2021 16:51

Can anyone remember what % take up was predicted at the start of the vaccine roll out?

Dementedswan · 28/05/2021 16:53

@BruceAndNosh was it 70%?

There were quite a few on here predicting it would be a disaster 😏

I’ve just been looking at the percentage of second jabs. We are about 1.8 million away from 50% of adults having both jabs.

On average we seem to be doing about 400k second jabs a day. So 4-5 days away.

So there is a good chance that on Tuesday (although we won’t hear about it until Wednesday) the 50% + 1 adult will be given their second jab.

At about the same time we are likely to hit 75% of adults for 1st jabs.

This means that if you walk down a street and see another adult then the most likely thing is that they will have had both jabs. The next most likely thing is that they will have had one jab. The least likely thing is that they will have had no jabs. That is a lovely thought for Wednesday!

DdraigGoch · 28/05/2021 18:41

Wales reached 100 doses per 100 today

Notmulan · 28/05/2021 19:18

Super to see such positivity

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2021 19:38

Hah. OH got a text: "As you’re in a high priority group, we’re now able to offer you earlier dates for your 2nd dose vaccination appointment."

So he went and cancelled the one he had, as instructed, and booked a new one. The first appointment they could offer him for the new one was on 10th June at 12:45.

His original appointment was at 12:15 on 10th June.

I wonder what if anything was the point of that?

Dementedswan · 28/05/2021 19:40

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime 🤣 at least it was the same day I guess!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2021 19:42

Yes, could have been worse.

I am very pleased you ended up finding those big girl pants of yours ❤

It would be nice if they would say who is doing all this talk of 'knife-edges'.

We have 'sources', 'scientists', 'officials' and 'A sage source'. But who are they, what are they basing these pronouncements on and on what authority?

Or is it just something a hack heard in the pub?

RainbowCrayons · 29/05/2021 03:26

Perhaps it's the 'friend who is high up in government' who had so many opinions back in spring last year! 🤣

Bordois · 29/05/2021 14:07

England only reporting today. Slightly lower but perhaps down to being a BH weekend so not as many appointments booked?

Have you got sun stroke or something today? That is 555k and a half just for England 🥳

😂

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 29/05/2021 15:52

More than half of people in their 30s have received a vaccine dose in the last fortnight, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 29/05/2021 15:53

As the Duchess of Cambridge announces her first vaccine dose, it might be worth a re-cap on who is currently able to take up the offer of a jab in the UK.

In England, people aged 30 and over can book online or through the national booking service, on 119.

That's the case for most parts of Scotland, but in areas of Glasgow anyone over-18 can come forward.

Meanwhile, anyone over 18 in Wales is now eligible, and that's the same in Northern Ireland.

Just for England it’s really good. Think we’ve been doing those numbers lately. Few weeks ago 550k was for whole uk and we were happy :)

Hope you’re all having a good weekend !

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 29/05/2021 16:14

Bordois you are being very greedy for a bank holiday weekend. Yes Hugo is a bit of a slacker these days. His reporting is what it used to be. All went down hill when he changed his profile photo if you ask me.

Lovely weekend. Thank you East. Hope yours is too ❤

Bordois · 29/05/2021 16:33

I cant help it, we've been spoilt!
