Vaccine centre volunteer

Has anyone volunteered as a vaccine centre steward?
I signed up ages ago but there have never been any shifts until now, and I have my first one tomorrow.
Obviously I’ll find out when I get there, but can anyone who’s done one let me know what it’s like. Eg it’s a 4.5 hour shift, are you given one role for the whole time, or do you rotate? I’m starting at midday, so the centre will already be open, so I guess there won’t be much time for going through stuff. Is it a throw you in and you’ll figure it out type of set up? I’ve signed up, but now I’m a bit worried that, because the centres have been running for a while now all the other volunteers will know what to do and I’ll be a bit of a hindrance that they won’t expect?

I’ve done it at our little local centre. There are a number of things that needed marshalling. One week I was on the main door checking temps and asking they had any COVID symptoms. Another time I was asking them to prepare their booking reference number. Another time I was on the gate at the car park advising where to go and finally I’ve been in the vaccination hall showing people to seats and wiping down vacated seats and them showing them out of the hall.

All simple and straightforward. People just need to see a smiley face (as much as you can behind a mask) and be reassured.

You’ll be fine x
