AZ side effects after a week

Worriedly2 · 01/05/2021 18:47

Just wondering if anyone else has had ongoing side effects that went on this long.

I had my 2nd az dose on the 23rd and had tiredness the next few days. Had a bad head ache on Thursday, then still just feel really fatigued and brain foggy.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Call 111 if you're concerned

Physalis · 01/05/2021 18:58

Sorry you are feeling ill.

Me and an older colleague had our first AZ on same day, We both had sore arms and mild shivers for a few days afterwards and then felt better. But then on day six we both started feeling ill again , but worse this time, for about four days with bad headaches and flu-like symptoms that did respond to paracetamol. I have also felt a bit depressed. It could be something else entirely though!

alabaster11 · 01/05/2021 19:02

Had my AZ two weeks ago. Still don't feel 100% to be honest. I regret getting it now as my side effects have been worse than when I actually had Covid.

MiaMarshmallows · 01/05/2021 19:23

Niece was like that for about 10 days. But she does have pre existing health conditions. Fine now but is worried about her 2nd jab.

CatsForLife · 01/05/2021 19:25

Yes I’m the same. A week in and still not feeling good. Headaches on and off, dizzy and generally feeling rundown. I expected symptoms but thought it would be short-lived.

Vickles20 · 01/05/2021 19:30

Yes. Felt rough for a couple of weeks. Around day 10 I took to my bed with a bad head. It got better though. But yes. I definitely had side effects for a couple of weeks Headaches, tiredness, sore throat/glands being tender in neck, nausea and palpitations

Vickles20 · 01/05/2021 19:30

Just to add. I’m not worried about my second. Bring it on

Realitea · 01/05/2021 19:43

Yes! I had mine eight days ago and some days I just can’t do anything. So tired and I’m getting daily mild headaches. I didn’t have any extreme side effects just these sort of low level energy zapping days. I’m sure it’ll go eventually though and I’m glad to have had the vaccine

BunsyGirl · 01/05/2021 19:46

Yes, two weeks on I am still not feeling right.

Skyliner001 · 01/05/2021 19:51

Nothing at all.

Same. Took me 2 weeks to get back to normal. I had fever and chills the first night then headaches, stiff neck and nausea for a fortnight and felt completely miserable. I’m 33 and no underlying conditions, and haven’t had covid.

Goodness, just think how you would all have felt if you got actual Covid. What a good job we’ve got such a good vaccination programme which is protecting us all.

I've had Covid (confirmed by PCR test). My side effects from AZ jab have been 10x worse than Covid.

Gah, just because we are describing our side effects doesn't mean we are not very grateful to be vaccinated! Only two people on the thread have mentioned regrets and one of them it was in relation to someone else!
Worriedly2 · 01/05/2021 20:28

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat as I said in my op it's my second jab. I'm all for vaccination, I'm just posting about how it has made me feel.

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat do you work for the government?
Do you not find all these side effects concerning?

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 01/05/2021 20:37

I just think it’s important to emphasise that vaccine side effects have to be considered in relation to the fact that we are living thought the biggest global health emergency for a century. I have also had AZ, I had some side effects. I could have chosen not to have it and to let other people do the hard work of building herd immunity. A lot of people are scared about having the vaccine and as we get to lower age groups it’s really important to emphasise why it matters that people should have it.

Kitcat122 · 01/05/2021 20:46

I still have low grade headache 9 days on.

Senso21 · 01/05/2021 20:54

I had bad dizziness, stiff neck, headaches and fuzzy head feeling for 7/8 weeks after my first AZ, 2 lots of gp appts for blood pressure and neurological examination and they couldn’t find anything wrong. Had my second jab today and praying I don’t get those side effects again it was so miserable to feel like that for so long

Worriedly2 · 01/05/2021 20:55

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat I'm not saying anyone shouldn't get it.

I'm 31 and got mine early by being in the right place at the right time. Statistically covid shouldn't kill me but I got the vaccine as we all need to do our bit.

Posting about side effects doesn't mean I regret getting it, I would have another if needs be. I'm just curious if my experience of it has been similar to others.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences too, it's reassuring to see it's normal.

Yes to the stiff necks and dizziness. I feel like I've been up all night, almost like I'm going about my business but also on another planet.

I had my 2nd jab (AZ) on Thursday. I was excited. I've been 'shielding' for so bloody long.

I even came off my immune suppressant for a month prior to this 2nd jab, to help establish an antibody reaction, and I'll forego my meds for an additional two weeks.

I've had to weigh up the risk/benefit ratio (channelling my inner Alan Partridge here.)

Today I feel a bit shit, yeah. But it's ok. It's great. It's working. I might get a bit of my fucking life back.

Yeah, got this!

I was a bit zonked after the first one for about 7 days, so I'm assuming this one might be double that.

Senso21 · 01/05/2021 21:28

Best way I can explain it is that I felt a bit tipsy for a couple of months!

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 01/05/2021 21:29

I have a low grade headache, exhaustion and muscle aches 10 days later. I feel like its triggered long covid again, which I suffered from for many many months.
