I keep reading side effects with the second jab are far less than the first.

I had my second today , feel sick , achy a bit dizzy.

What side effects did you have with the second?

What side effects did you have with the second?

I felt hotish first time and a slightly bigger headache

2nd jab the other day, head aches not as bad but i think my worrying got the better of me and light headed and a bit giddy.

other than that it was lighter in my experiences and my OH and one of our children - so second is lighter but the worry of clots now that we have heard about it makes people like me worry more and that is not good.

PurplePumpkinDream · 29/04/2021 22:58

@Emma2021 I agree now we know we can’t help worrying, ‘A little knowledge is a dangerous thing’.

I'm in my late 60s. After the first dose of A-Z I had some minor side effects on the two days following jab day. All side effects resolved by the third day.

I had my second dose of A-Z on Friday afternoon. Yesterday I felt tired and lethargic for most of the day and slightly queasy in the evening

  • but that was all. This morning I feel fine again.

DP (mid 70s) also had his second dose on Friday. He felt a little tired yesterday but that was all. (He had had fewer side effects than me with his first dose, too.)

Pleased and relieved to have had both doses.

ShrinkingViolet9 · 01/05/2021 10:13

*Thursday afternoon

not Friday.

Add slight cognitive impairment to second dose side effects.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/05/2021 10:17

It might help if you say what your side effects were like after the first one, OP, for comparison. Grin

Following with interest - just booked 2nd and it's 3 days before I go on holiday. Haven't had first jab yet.

Spied · 01/05/2021 10:22

First jab. Low-grade headache that lasted almost two weeks (January-before mention of clots)
Second. Migraine with aura ( flashing lights, nausea, feeling 'strange') the day after the jab ( very rarely have migraine - maybe once a year so I'm guessing it was jab related)

I've just had my first A-Z and felt pretty unwell with sore and aching muscles and painful joints for about a day and a half so I've been hoping I might come across a thread like this to reassure me the second dose won't be so bad!

Buddywoo · 01/05/2021 10:28

I have had both AZ jabs and had no side effects with either of them.

ShrinkingViolet9 · 01/05/2021 10:57

Side effects of A-Z and Pfizer are also covered in several previous Covid-19 vaccination threads.

Vax 1 - woke up in the night violently shaking with fever but felt freezing cold, massive headache for 2 days, nauseous and dizzy, muscle aches, back pain, exhaustion.

Vax 2 - took more paracetamol, muscle aches, back pain and a bit tired but nothing like the first one at all. Such a relief!

pinkmagnolias · 01/05/2021 12:39

It might help if you said your age when posting?

AgnesNaismith · 01/05/2021 13:10

Why @pinkmagnolias. The variable is jab 1 to 2 not side effects depending on age.

ilovesooty · 01/05/2021 13:12

No effects after the first one and don't expect any after the second this coming Friday.

LIZS · 01/05/2021 13:13

Dh had his on Thursday, nothing of note.

pinkmagnolias · 01/05/2021 13:18

Why @pinkmagnolias. The variable is jab 1 to 2 not side effects depending on age.

Because severe effects affect younger people more. As only a limited number of younger people have had the AZ shot, there is very little/no data re the effects of a second shot. Therefore, it would be useful to know the ages of those who are having the second shot as well as the side effects.

AgnesNaismith · 01/05/2021 13:21

Ah, ok - late 30s

I felt dire with the first- was sick, shivers, aching temperature, very lathargic.

Second - i felt a woozy, sick but wasnt sick, woke up in the night with really bad headache but took paracetamol. Felt a bit achy next morning but fine after paracetamol.
