How do I get my vaccine?

Hi,

I'm a student nurse, 24 weeks pregnant and currently placed on a community based placement.

My Gp surgery says "we are unable to answer any questions about the coronavirus vaccine"

I've tried the nhs app, but they have no appointments in any local vaccine centres. Nearest one being Blackpool, that's a 1.5 hour drive and they had no appointments.

My university sat my placement have to arrange it, the placement say they no longer book vaccines for staff.

I'm at a loss, I just want my vaccine. I'm an unpaid carer as well as a student nurse and I'm terrified of catching covid especially as I'm nearing the third trimester

Can anyone advise me?

Thanks

Have you spoken with your GP? Personally I'd push for a conversation with the actual GP, lie if you need to. Do you have any other health concerns that you can get a phone appointment for and bring it up then?

Or your midwife?

FeatheredHope · 29/04/2021 11:46

Have you phoned 119?

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 29/04/2021 11:48

I'll phone 119, my midwife is no option she told me I shouldn't have the vaccine as they didn't know what was in it. I don't want to take her advice

I'll try 119 now and hopefully get somewhere Grin

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

119 have said they are unable to book me an appointment due to not being advised to have Oxford jab, they would only allow Pfizer and moderna in pregnant women and as they can't ensure that I would be sent to a centre that would give only Pfizer or moderna they couldn't go forward with my appointment

So I will have to speak to the gp if I can even get an appointment

Can you google your local CCG and see if they have a vaccine enquiry email/phone line?

We are dealing with a lot of these types of queries and can access vaccine sites directly to get patients an appointment where the situation isn’t completely straight forward.

Bluntness100 · 29/04/2021 12:26

Are you not a front line health worker, can you not just book it?

Bluntness100 · 29/04/2021 12:27

Sorry cross posted this isn’t about getting your vaccine it’s about getting a specific one, which is missing from the op.

Where are you? Find out which centres are giving out the jab you need and turn up with your work ID and explain. They'll likely just give you it
