I have heard mixed reports as to whether you can take it after vaccine. Paracetamol is not enough.

I was told not to take it after my jab.

frozendaisy · 24/04/2021 17:53

Mr had his today advise, this is with AZ, was not to take it because it can mask the symptoms of clots (swelling etc) that, in the tiny chance, you may need to be aware of.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/04/2021 19:19

I was told it was ok and I took it and paracetamol

alexdgr8 · 24/04/2021 19:22

i never take it, as when i once did, advised by a medic, i had terrible headaches.
anyway, paracetamol is advised for any after effects of vaccination.
what do you mean it is not enough.
if you are having severe symptoms maybe ring 111, just to be sure.
good luck.

My temp was 39.5 and I had to take Nurofen to get it down as paracetamol alone wasn’t strong enough.

marilenagrace · 24/04/2021 19:41

I took it and it was fine. What's the worry, that the vaccine won't work ?

bookworm1632 · 24/04/2021 19:45

No problem taking it after at all.

LovingBob · 24/04/2021 20:07

I can't take paracetamol as it makes me sick so I would have to take either ibuprofen or aspirin.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2021 20:08

I phoned my doctor, he said absolutely fine to take it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/04/2021 20:09

I wondered about taking aspirin but I forgot to ask. Occasionally I get headaches that paracetamol doesn't touch and aspirin seems work.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/04/2021 20:09

Paracetamol doesn't shift my headaches( I'm prone)

I'm the same with headaches. Only ibuprofen for me.
LovingBob · 24/04/2021 20:22

I usually take aspirin for headache and ibuprofen for toothache, luckily my vaccine side effects were not so bad that I had to take anything, the thing with aspirin and ibuprofen is that you have to take after food which can be a bit difficult if you feel a bit nauseous as I did after the vaccine

itsgettingwierd · 24/04/2021 20:37

I recall reading somewhere it's because you want the inflammation response to get the vaccine working properly. Ibuprofen removes that.

Da had his 1.5 hours ago and he was told if he had headache that paracetamol didn't help to tell me so I could ring GP or 111.

I get headaches [tension] and my doctor asked me questions about if it felt normal to me and I said yes. That was 4 days or so in from having the vaccine. The reason it lasted so long was because paracetamol just has no impact. Had I nipped it in the bud, it would have taken it right away but I was worried about taking ibuprofen. The doctor told me it was absolutely fine to take it.
