Text for vaccine but not eligible?!

Got very excited on Friday when i got a text from NHS Vaccine to book my appointment but after inputting my details online it won't let me book as I'm not eligible.. Has anyone else had this? To be fair I probably shouldn't be eligible yet but did get a bit giddy thinking I could get it!
Tried to ring 119 but its impossible to speak to a human to ask why I'd of got the text

Maybe you need to book it through gp surgery.

Yes have you used the link in the text or gone to the NHS website?

poppycat10 · 17/04/2021 17:53

(you need to use the link in the text if it is from your GP)

I used the link in the text (from NHS rather than my GP)
Might try ringing my GP on Monday.. Was just curious if anyone else had the same thing

Normally, GPs don’t send links to the national booking site or tell people to book there. They leave people to realise they are eligible from the front page there that says who is, or to book when they get a letter inviting them from the national booking service.

Communication from GPs is usually to locally led services.

Therefore if you ring the GP and say you received a message from them but don’t know how to actually book and need help, they should sort you out with either a proper link to the lcoal service or just arrange the booking for you.

In all likelihood, if you got a message from them you are eligible.

But it will be them you need to speak to.

If however your text wasn’t from GP but NHS I would try 119 again.

Essentially whoever invited you is the person to speak to.

My text was from the GP with a link to Swiftqueue. I'm 40 and this was a few weeks ago in an area ahead of much of the country when most were working through 50+

Possibly someone has given the wrong phone number to their GP, this happened to someone I know. The text was addressed to a Mr X so she realised there'd been a mistake somewhere so waited until she was eligible by age.

Worth making sure that it wasn't a scam or something. Can't be too careful these days.
