Covid after vaccination?

I received my first dose of Pfizer on 25 February.

Last night I started feeling rough - congestion, sore throat, headache, mildly upset stomach. but no temp. However, my 3 year old son has just developed a high temperature and says his throat is sore.

Obviously I'll organise a PCR. Have any of you had Covid after the vaccine? With a significant enough interval to have some immunity? I'm a bit concerned because I'm 29 weeks pregnant but I'm hoping the vaccine will do something! Thanks.

It's likely to be something else I would have thought, especially with the congestion symptoms, but yes get a test
I know of 2 people that have had covid after the vaccine albeit with mild symptoms

Yes, it is possible. It doesn’t stop you getting it or passing it on. It will stop you getting as bad as you might if you haven’t had the vaccine.

I hope you feel better x

I had mine on the same day as you, also Pfizer.

It’s unlikely to be Covid. First jab offers significant protection against symptomatic disease after 21 days.

My daughter caught Covid after her first vaccine. She is convinced she caught it off a patient (frontline nurse).

The illness itself was very mild and only lasted a few days. She is fine now.

My friends mum got covid a couple of months after her first pfizer vacinne. She was quite poorly but not hospitalised. She is elderly.

How did you manage to get the vaccine when pregnant?

mamababy1955555 · 16/04/2021 14:18

This is very reassuring in the main, thank you. I'm sorry about your friend's mum, rosesarered, but glad she didn't have to go to hospital.

I'm group 6 because of an underlying condition and I decided overall I would rather have it when offered. I'm extremely glad I did! Because I have a 3 year old, staying away from people for the duration of my last trimester (when the risk of complications is greatest for pregnant women) is not really an option.

I know a few people who have had covid after 1st vaccine dose (DP and work mates-hospital) mostly they have had it quite mildly although some have been in bed for a week or so.

My dad also caught covid - just days after his second vaccination. He had a “bad cold” for a few days but nothing serious enough to worry any of us.
