Just that really! Just read it in the news.

Not looking good for AZ as I'm sure a few more counties will follow suit.

Goalposts keep moving don't they?

Yes, as you would expect during a global pandemic

From today it's possibly to volunteer to be jabbed with AZ or J&J in Denmark.

You have to contact your own doctor who will arrange it after talking it through with you.

It'll be interesting to see the uptake - especially with the early 40s who may want to go on holiday in the summer but may not be finished with vaccination until mid-July if they wait.

Thanks for update. Are they not concerned j,& j have equal risks to AZ?

Uk financial Times said all Danish be vaccinated by end if August.
Masks will stop and things will all open up.

Here in the UK we very resistant to covid passport's for things in this country.
Its interesting as Denmark not quite where UK is with vaccines.
Do they have no Indian varient to worry about.
Both nations have good genome testing, access to testing and vaccines yet we seem to be taking more cautious approach here although I hope travel into Denmark and quarantine is not the same shit show that is here.

Random slightly linked question.
With all the mink culled does that mean end of mink farming in Denmark.

I would love take family on holiday there but won't be this year maybe not until 2023.

@3asAbird

Yep, J&J was dropped from the main vaccination program too. This was actually a much bigger deal - we'd ordered more J&J than any other vaccine. But it also became clear that it wouldn't arrive in big quantities early enough to be a major part of the initial vaccination drive anyway.

FT have it right - the vaccination calendar is scheduled for the last group (35-39 year olds) to get their second dose by the end of August.

Danes don't seem to have the same resistance to the COVID passport thing - in fact it's been in play here for several weeks already. Everything is so digital and centralized here anyway, we have our.. "person number" which I suppose is like your NI number, and we use it for... everything. Banking, applying for stuff, doctor, year cards to aquariums and zoos. Having our vaccinated status whacked on top just doesn't feel like a big deal.

The Indian variant is present here, but there doesn't seem to be any hotspots of it like you have in Bolton etc. I'm hoping that some of the latest findings in the UK might turn out true - it's looking like while it is more contagious than the UK variant, it's nothing like the 50% more originally feared.

I'm not sure how it'll spin out with the travelling here, but it had better be ok by next year because I'm getting married and would like my extensive UK family to be here for it!

Some of the mink farmers want to start up again. They got a massive settlement but I guess it's what they know. Personally I'd be happy to see the end of that industry.

It was announced yesterday that at least 3 million of the doses we've bought and will not use will go to COVAX this year.

Those we already received are being taken fast on the voluntary program.

Thats postive I read bangadesh are struggling as they get vaccines from India and there's a ban. They have asked uk and USA for az. Not sure what outcome will be.

I watch a older you tuber uk but lives Copenhagen Diane in Denmark and shes having 1st jab this week and in her 50s so Denmark must be slightly behind uk in vaccination as we now down to early 30s in England and Wales.

I hope all goes well for your wedding.
Are Denmark going ahead with janson 1 shot vaccine or changed mind as similar vaccine to AZ

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 25/05/2021 10:01

The dropped the J&J, same as the AZ. Which I was really surprised about to be honest.

Denmark is behind UK like most of EU, but it's going much better. The age is a misleading way to see where we are though. They're doing the 16-19 year olds in the same 'group' as the 50-54 year olds. Their reasoning is that the younger groups spread it a lot over the summer (and we will have very few restrictions then. Plus they've already lost a year of what should be a very fun time in their lives.

Then they're doing 20-24 year olds at the same time as 45-49 year olds, etc...

I'm 42 and my group starts in two weeks.

We're getting 4x as many Pfizer next month as we were getting per month at the beginning. It's gone from about 20k jabs a day to 50k at the moment.

Since Denmark is very roughly 10% the population of England, it's easy to see that that's (finally) roughly on par with the 500k-ish a day that the UK have been managing.

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 31/05/2021 10:55

So the J&J and AZ is going fast to volunteers - no shortage of people happy to take them. Every volunteer has to have a consultation with their doctor first so they understand the risks, and they're still queuing round the block for it - great to see.

I was going to volunteer until I got my invitation on the standard program - next week. I'm 42, but you need to keep in mind that 16-19 year olds were ahead of me in the queue.

newstart1234 · 31/05/2021 15:23

My DH got jansson today. Yey. I don’t mind the Covid passport thing. It’s a bind queueing every 3 days for a test, but the flip side is you know everywhere you go everyone’s been tested in the last 72 hours so it’s easier to relax.

newstart1234 · 31/05/2021 15:23

No more queuing for us now 😌

Ah, I live in Tårnby so I’ve been using the airport one and it’s a pretty smooth operation there now - last time I went there was literally no queue!

I haven’t had a single quick test though - just 11 PCR ones.

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 04/06/2021 07:39

Some updates:

About 350,000 doses are being sent to Kenya - these are doses where even with the voluntary program, there's a risk of them expiring if a decision isn't made on them. It's being coordinated through UNICEF.

The queue for people wanting J&J or AZ on a voluntary basis is currently about 43,000 people.
