In the city in which I live in the UK 😊 amazing, we were 1200 per 100,000 beginning of January. The vaccine rollout is definitely working 😊

Where did you see this? If it's from the Gov dashboard from yesterday, there is a caveat to the data I'm afraid; basically they removed just over 8,000 cases from the totals yesterday, because they were positive LFTS that were followed up by negative PCRs.

It may well be true, but many smaller places appear as zero yesterday when they weren't.

The way numbers are created at local level is by taking the difference between the previous day and the current day; the adjustment essentially meant that numbers yesterday are the net result of taking away those old results then adding the new ones. So for example, in my area, they took away 5 but added 4 new, so the dashboard shows 0 new yesterday but that wasn't true -there were 4, but they netted out with the old ones being removed.

It's explained here

Obviously that doesn't mean vaccines aren't working! They are. But don't be disappointed when more cases appear in your area over the next few days.

My area has had no new cases (well 0-2, so showing as white on the map) for 3 solid weeks now.

@PatriciaHolm interesting it was in the local paper.

@TheOneWithTheBigNose lucky you, that is brilliant news.

@PatriciaHolm is that not a good thing though? Surely removing false positives means we have less cases than we thought.

oh yes! It's good that that is happening, and the levels suggest the problem with false positives is less than originally thought. I just thought it was useful to be clear on what the data from yesterday actually shows.

indeed quite a lot of places were zero new cases yesterday it does not unfortunately mean that there were no new cases necessarily just readjustment of the numbers. Look at the specimen dates in the government chart, those should be current.
