Is anybody doing the ONS study?

I've been doing the swab tests for the ONS Covid study and just started doing the antibody blood tests as well. How long does it take to get your results back for those?

Hello. We are. Did our first blood sample yesterday.

I did ask our person if we’d have results from the blood sample or if they’d check for antibodies but she wasn’t sure 🤷🏼‍♀️ Then we got distracted with me rabbiting on exactly like a person who’s not spoken to anyone much in a year and I never did get an answer

Thanks, clear as mud then as usual! Would be interesting to know if I have antibodies as I have been exposed to Covid but not had any symptoms to make me think I had it myself.

We are doing the ONS survey, but so far we haven’t been asked to do the blood tests. We’re you asked to because you’ve had covid or had the vaccine? And were you offered extra vouchers for also doing the bloody tests?

I've not had Covid or the vaccine, I think it's just random. You don't get extra vouchers now but the blood tests carry on until April 2022 so it's an extra 8 months of vouchers after our swab tests finish in September.

I am doing the ONS study, and have just recent,y received a letter with my blood test antibody results after several months (no antibodies). So it takes a while but you will get it!

Thanks @Waxonwaxoff0. I’d be happy to do the blood tests, is it just a pin prick one? The kids won’t do it for sure though, they aren’t keen on the swabs! 😂 Did they ask at a testing visit or write to ask separately?

We had the blood test and got a letter with antibody results a couple of weeks later.

I'm doing antibody tests - had my first results 4 days after sending them back. I had antibodies from vaccine but not from having Covid - 2 types of antibody and I only showed one

They wrote to ask separately but it was all done at the same visit. It is the finger prick one, it's a bit of a ball ache though as you have to do it all yourself and the only equipment you get is a pot to try and drip your blood into. They require 0.5ml and it took me 20 minutes to get that much!

We did our first one a couple of weeks ago and I was a bit worried about getting enough blood so drank loads of water before hand like they suggested and I filled the tube in seconds in fact got far too much so had to tip a bit out! Ended up dripping everywhere though too Confused. Next time I’ll drink a little less.

Boxachocs · 10/04/2021 14:43

Thanks @Waxonwaxoff0. I’ve just recently had the vaccine, hope I get asked to do the blood tests as I’m quite accustomed to receiving the vouchers now so I’d like to carry on as long as possible! 😂
